Issues:
It's always been unclear to me (and to the friends I've turned on to MSoundFactory Player) just what is needed and how to install it. At first I thought that all I needed to do was check the option to install the MSoundFactory Instruments in the Meldaproduction universal installer.
This resulted in Super Saw working, but sounding....uninspiring doesn't come close.
Then I clicked on "Install factory data" and saw all these things that said they were free but that I hadn't installed. This dialog was confusing because:
1. I thought I had already installed the Essentials instruments.
2. I was surprised to see that I could apparently get gobs of MDrummer stuff for free if I hit the "Install all" button.
To my current understanding, the first item was true, but I still needed to install the sample data. It wasn't clear that instruments and their sample data are two separate downloads that must both be installed, even if all you want is Super Saw (which in its properly installed form is worth the trouble). Also, the fact that the instruments do make sound, but terrible thin sound, is confusing (and not all of them pop the error message about missing samples). At first I thought I might have peed away $49. I had once correctly installed Super Saw on my old system and had remembered it as being EPIC.
As for the second item....well, I think that the MDrummer sample content doesn't apply to me as an MSoundFactoryLE ROMplermeister because there are probably no instruments that use it. If I had the full version, maybe I could use the samples to make my own drum kits, but I don't. I know there's a check box at the top where I can select to filter to MSoundFactory or MDrummer content, but why is that content even there when I wouldn't be able to use it in my product? Couldn't the MDrummer content be greyed out for LE users?
Lastly, the default value for the download and install progress bar seems to be "0%" even after everything is installed and happy. That (along with the pink "Install factory data" button, and the "Install all" button) makes it seem as if there is still something that hasn't been finished in the process.
I figured it all out, but it took me a long time. Also, when I helped a (computer-savvy) friend install Monastery Grand on his system, we both wound up baffled for a while. I'm a former IT guy, software QA engineer, etc., and at least aspire to be a steely-eyed Melda-man, so I knew that with persistence, it could be sorted out, but I wonder how many people are going to give up and/or end up with 80GB of unneeded drum samples in their download folder?
It's probably spelled out somewhere on the website, but couldn't it be spelled out better in the plug-in's or installer's dialogs? "If you wish to use MSoundFactory Player with the included Super Saw instrument, you must download and the MFactory Essentials data (else it will sound like a broken weed whacker)" or something.
Other than that, now that I have the instruments AND the samples installed, the included instruments sound frickin' amazing.
