Really going back to Ableton live now, greedy Bitwig. Bitwig has potential but this is not the route they should go really upset......
Bitwig you have lost a yearly updater for good.....![]()

Stopped updating since 4.0.. and this does not make me want to upgrade! Also I'm using FL studio now.. pay once 200 bucks and updates are free! Also I'm a bit annoyed of the "nerd" direction of this daw... Being able to modulate in soo specific ways so specific parameters of a synth, but no simple sample slicer??

I've just renewed my license this week and the 4.3.9 update does not offer me anything for my money besides a Japanese translation. What a power move, Bitwig

Renewed last week. Asked for my money back. Not expecting to get it. Back to Ableton.
UPDATE: Bitwig support got back to me with a very helpful email.
Given my purchase was less than 14 days ago I have been able to request a full refund.

"Kamikaze Pro" is the new version in the pipeline.
Seriously, the CLAP was the only thing keeping me in the loop.

Live upgrades are free and quite frequent and the 11 update was massive, we have already had 11.1 and 11.2 since 11 was released…11.5 will probably be a bigger update and also free (that’s how it normally works). You can get Live for a lot less than 800E! I paid 350 for Suite…llze wrote: Wed Oct 05, 2022 8:33 pmand then paying what, 800€ and receive an update every so 3rd year? now way for me.permeke wrote: Wed Oct 05, 2022 8:02 pmyup, same hereEight4aWish wrote: Wed Oct 05, 2022 7:15 pm Renewed last week. This is bullshit.
What about if one pays for this add-on. Decides not to renew bitwig license for a couple of updates. Will potential updates to this add-on be free? Will they even be compatible with whatever version of bitwig one is still running?
Will bitwig only contain "basic" devices and all the other new devices will be add-ons?

Yes, not cool Bitwig - I wonder how much dev time was taken away from the upgrade planmensch_mueller wrote: Wed Oct 05, 2022 8:49 pm So my money from "active" upgrade plan is used to develop add-ons which I have to pay???![]()
also:
Start Bitwig:
"Some installed packages can be updated"
Nice
Click update:
"This package is not available with your current license"
huh?
My upgrade plan says:
"Future-proof: All Bitwig Studio updates in the following 12 months are FREE."
Yeah right...

I understand that Bitwig is targeting a specific segment, but it's not like there are no other incredible solutions out there... Instead of adopting a strategy to keep their core users happy (address key improvement requests), attract new users (add new capabilities), and be creative in how to provide added *value* to their community, they do this! Time will tell but i don't think this was well thought through imo.

Look, it's really very simple. Add Ons should be separate products and separate installs. They should not be rolled in to a point update like 4.3.9 that people are already paying for with their yearly update plans.
You decide if the new plugins are something you want, you purchase, and you get the download content.
Those of us who have no interest in the new plugins could simply ignore them instead of being nagged about updating to 4.3.9 every time we load up Bitwig.
This would have avoided a lot of the ill will that this situation has created. This whole thing was a very amateur move by Bitwig.
