Is it possible to send digital audio from Spotify running on Windows 11 OS to Pro Tools Ultimate using Connector?

I'm trying to feed Connector audio via the ASIO driver on Windows 10 and not having any luck, it just stays showing [NOT CONNECTED] in the DAW I'm trying to receive the audio into.

Have tried to use a few different apps to output audio and two different DAWs to receive audio, with no joy. Tried turning off Windows Firewall as well temporarily.

In the app outputting audio it says send to port 8081. In Connector I then enter port 8081 in the Receive section. Then nothing happens.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

No, consumer applications will usually not let you use plug-ins or ASIO drivers, so this is not possible.

The ASIO driver only works as a slave. So you need the "slaved" app that uses the ASIO driver to receive audio (even if silent) from the other app. This way the slave app can process audio in sync with the other application.

Has anyone tried Connector between FL Studio and Reaper? I would love to use FLS as a plugin in Reaper, but I keep running into issues.

I remember a customer reporting doing this particular routing successfully not long ago. What kind of issues are you having? Are you using Connector as a plug-in on both sides, or as an ASIO driver for FL?

Connector is loaded as VST on a Reaper, sending to FLS, another send in FLS back to Reaper and a receiver. I've got it down to getting a good signal all the way. I may be mistaken but should I be able to render in Reaper? All I can do is record.

Connector streams only in real time between apps (there is no way to synchronize the clocks of both apps when bouncing (=offline rendering)). So you have to manually record the output of to do the rendering.

Lets imagine I want to send audio from App A to App B. Intuitively, I would expect to set App A to use the Blue Cat ASIO driver. In App B, I insert an instance of Blue Cat Connector and set it to receive audio. The instance of Connector in App B now receives all of the audio generated from App A.

The comments above that the ASIO Driver is only a "slave" suggest that the above is the wrong way around - App B should use the ASIO driver. But if that is the case, how do you direct the audio to a sound device so it can actually be heard?

Can you provide more info on the intended use for the ASIO driver? There is virtually nothing in the 'manual' on the Blue Cat website.

You are just one step away from getting it working. The only thing you need to do is to send a dummy audio or MIDI stream from App B to the App A ASIO driver instance, so that it triggers audio processing in App A. Once this connection is established, App A will start sending audio to App B.

The app I want to receive the audio has to send audio to the other app in order to trigger audio processing in the other app. A simple question - Why?

The app I want to send the audio from has its own ASIO driver (albeit the BlueCat slave ASIO) and should be conceptually distinct from the app that recieves the audio. It just so happens that the ASIO audio is directed to instances of BlueCat reciever.

It would be really helpful if this feature had clear documentation that laid out how it should be used, because it is not intuitively obvious.

The technical reason is that the slave needs to get a clock from the master, even if you only wants to send audio to it. The concept is that the slave app is just an audio processor that can be called from the master app.

Without changing much to your setup, you can activate one of the receivers to send data to the Connector driver, and it should activate the stream.

The documentation should indeed be updated to give more details about the ASIO driver.
