Very interesting choice. I’m going to have to revisit it . I own it and wasn’t impressed enough to dig into it. I’ve made this error in judgement before. That is somewhat true. I have some of Homegrown Sounds instruments. They are pretty good. Not at all, for the simple reason you can choose anything as a sound source, so you never have to make anything from scratch. e.g. If you want some string sounds, load up a string library. If you want basslines, load up a bass library. From there you can tweak it just like any synth. Presence XT, for example, has two LFO, two envelopes, 9 different filter types (with Drive and Punch controls), as well a 16 slot mod matrix that includes Aftertouch, Breath Controller and Expression as sources. And a s ample-based synth like Hexeract even does FM with samples. Samplers/ROMplers certainly have their place and I use them all the time. One overall - Halion. Not sure if that'd be rated as a synth or a development platform though.
