By the way, I don't have the Korg Arp Odyssey. Does anyone think Oddity 3 is better or on par in terms of sound and/or features? I could demo both, but I would rather take a word of advice from those who have used both. Thanks!
In my humble opinion, Oddity 3 is much better in the overall sound dept, but some may choose Korg over it. Side by side, I'd choose Oddity 3 ,it just has that something special to it, that the Korg doesn't. ymmv

I prefer the Korg for certain things like what the original was good for -Leads and mono sounds. The filter Type I on the korg is my favorite across both versions, nice and dirty. However Oddity has it's own nice sound and great versatility to make sounds you wouldn't think would come from an odyssey, like airy spacey pads, or heavily modulated sounds.
Thanks a lot guys. That's great to know and I think I am ready to buy Oddity 3 once I finish demoing it in my setup just to make sure everything is fine. Odyssey is one of those synths that sounds great for a lot of different sounds with different character, and GForce has rightly put it as "From Pretty To Gritty". Don't want to have multiple plugins of same type, especially for this one, so I will have to skip the Korg one in this case even though I believe Korg one will be on sale for ~$50 soon.

Loads old custom patches from Oddity via Oddity2 that can be imported into Oddity3 :)

Buttons are not great, too. It's hard to say if buttons are up or down.

Initialise the patch
Enable one osc and choose 2pole filter ( lower ) and set reso to 50 percent
Apply adsr to filter envelope , with a decaying curve
Set to poly mode , and ad envelope to vca
PLay one note and hold it (this has a medium resonance ) , play a second note while holding the first one .
Result : the second note has a huge increase in resonance , seems that the filter envelope has a cumulative effect while in polymode (edit )
It's difficult to replicate since it doesn't always happen.
This is the patch setting
Edit , it seems that the second held note automatically switches to the moog filter behind the scenes ,which explains the increase in resonance
Sound example 1-2 BUg only happens when 2 pole filter is selected , if it doesn' t appear from the first time , switch filter modes and back to 2 pole

https://app.box.com/s/iiylkwjhtj2ac01hohwzqsh01owp9no3
Edit:happens in all filter modes ,sometimes the 4 pole sounds like a 2 pole
LIsten to each second note , 4 pole filter is selected but each succesive note sounds like a 2 pole
Sound example 3

I miss mpe and microtuning. I listen to mo zebra and other u-he plugs and I am not going to update to version 3 until these two issues are fixed.

Bought the upgrade have to say the new UI is a huge improvement and I really like the "Vintage" dial and the the new version 3 patches

I obviously also own Oddity 2 and have been doing some comparisons, same stock patches (for instance the fantastic Oddity 2 101SH BSSSNYH patch) and even once ensuring Reverb off in Oddity 3 - although subtle to me it Oddity 3 sounds better but it could be placebo - not sure how to describe other than Oddity 3 sounds to me more refined (in a good way)

That patch is pure audio gold!
Works well in isolation as well as in a mix. I'm probably guilty of using it (or slight edits of it) too often, but damn it's a great patch :)
I'm upgrading today, so will be keen to hear the difference between mk2 and mk3

Does someone know if there is a way to switch patches (previous/next) with Midi-CC? Seems like it can‘t be controlled that way, but maybe someone has an idea?

Post

I was hoping there was a midi learn function for changing patches as well, this would be a nice feature

Just get the free Multiply by Acon Digital. Sounds very much like Unison.
