Welcome.
You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

lolz, you're calling someone else entitled? The irony is thick with this one....Teksonik wrote: Fri Nov 04, 2022 1:31 pmWe were talking about the iLok soft manager here and yes it is the user. The user that doesn't mind if a company feels so entitled that they should be allowed to install whatever intrusive third party app that they have no control over they want on your system.licasto2 wrote: Thu Nov 03, 2022 7:47 pm I've been using an iLok since 2001 and have NEVER had a problem. I actually prefer it. Maybe it's not the tools but the user??? As a mater of fact, iLok is the ONLY cp I've never had a problem with. Good luck with challenge/response, etc. if a company goes out of business. I have licenses on my iLok 1 from companies that are long gone that will still work on a Mac OS9 system if I wanted them to.
The ilok soft manager does you no good whatsoever and gets its hooks so far into your system that it can cause it not to boot if something goes wrong. Remember "I've never had a problem" does not equal there can be no problems. That is down more to luck than any perceived "skill".
I've only had one problem with the iLok soft manager over the years. One day I booted up and all my licenses were gone even though they were fine the day before and I took no action in between. It took faffing about with Pace not the plugin developers themselves because they couldn't help since the app is not theirs to get the issue resolved.
It was the Air music debacle that brought to light just how much of a stability risk the iLok soft manager can be and since then I no longer support developers that use it and I haven't called up an iLok infected plugin in almost two years. I only keep it installed now for some really old projects.
But if you feel comfortable giving the stability of your system over to plugin developers just because they feel the need to use Pace (when many many developers of top notch plugins do not) then more power to you. If you feel comfortable paying extra for a dongle just to protect someone else's intellectual property even though your IP can't be similarly protected then more power to you. I don't insult you for those choices.
The "what if a company goes out of business" argument fall apart when you realize Pace is just a company as well.
I've never lost a C/R plugin yet.
Anyway once again my first post was just to give people who don't use iLok a heads up so they don't waste their time on this freebie.
If that triggered the Defenders of iLok then so be it. This debate has raged on for decades and will for as long as Pace exists. This isn't the forum for continuing the debate so I'll be happy to move on if you'll just stop quoting me.![]()
P.S. My systems being "intruded" by iLok are SPECIFICALLY for music production and mixing. I ain't a nerd playing an MMO or whatever else a "Yo, I'm a producer, yo!" wannabe actually use their computer for (instead of "making beats"). 100% music production. If a tool that makes my life easier requires an extra piece of software or a USB dongle then I think it is worth every bite and bit. How about you stop whining about free stuff and keep the tears to yourself? My new car, a tool for travel, is a high performance turbo and takes 91 octane gasoline. I don't like spending the extra $ for fuel but that's the requirement for the car. Instead of crying about it I man up and deal with the requirements of the tool.

Yet you feel entitled to be rude and condescending over a simple forum post so the irony is actually in you.licasto2 wrote: Fri Nov 04, 2022 9:04 pm lolz, you're calling someone else entitled? The irony is thick with this one....
You feel I can't insult iLok but you feel entitled to insult me.
Let me explain it again....yes I'm entitled, to keep my studio computer stable and free from software that does me no good. Who is really acting entitled are developers who think they have a right to take any liberties with our systems they wish even if it's for a freebie. Just because we buy a plugin from a developer or even get it for "free" it doesn't give them the right to do anything they wish to our systems especially when so many top developers don't feel the need to use an intrusive CP scheme or install storefronts. Get it? Got it? Good.
So is my studio computer, it does nothing but produce music and videos. That's exactly why I want to keep intrusive CP schemes that are little more than malware off of it. I am concerned about the stability of a system that's so important to me. If you're not then please feel free to install all the bloatware and intrusive CP schemes (that can cause system stability issues) you wish.licasto2 wrote: Fri Nov 04, 2022 9:04 pmP.S. My systems being "intruded" by iLok are SPECIFICALLY for music production and mixing.
I won't judge you for your decision so don't judge me for mine.
You may not be a nerd but you are one bitter guy who doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.licasto2 wrote: Fri Nov 04, 2022 9:04 pmI ain't a nerd playing an MMO or whatever else a "Yo, I'm a producer, yo!" wannabe actually use their computer for (instead of "making beats"). 100% music production.
How about you stop whining about my posts just because I don't like iLok and keep your tears to yourself? Is your manhood so fragile that you can't stand someone refusing to use a plugin because it's infected with iLok?licasto2 wrote: Fri Nov 04, 2022 9:04 pmHow about you stop whining about free stuff and keep the tears to yourself?
