ZebraHZ itself tells you to use your regular Zebra2 serial number...

Sometimes I feel like people are missing brain cells but then i remember that people are just lazy and lazy people tend to blame others for their mistakes.. cos its just easier

Sounds good to me. I can censor the angriest people, but I still see their words when other people quote the entire post. I'd prefer it if we could talk about the software itself. For example: so many new sounds in those soundsets! Where to start?

Post

Wowzers. I like to do a lot of patching and presets for my own use but those soundsets are amazing so far imo. I like weird noise so i started with Zebra Science. Zebra has some of my favorite presets of any softsynth i own.
Thanks team U-he.

I was going to write an answer... then I thought... Merry Xmas... and deleted...

You are wholly missing the point.

Yes I eventually saw that screen after launching ZebraHZ for the first time. It's just because I was expecting a new serial code to be deposited prior to downloading the ZebraHZ installer. I guess I'm just used to how upgrades work with other companies, for example when you upgrade Sublab to SublabXL, a new serial number is generated.

But ZebraHZ is not an upgrade - it's a soundset... Maybe not the most usual soundset, but still not an upgrade...

Well apart from the included sounds, ZebraHZ does have more features than Zebra 2. But I guess its considered to be a sidegrade rather than an upgrade.

BRAVO

I'm agreeing with Fabrizio 100% … and coincidentally I have almost purchased the complete U-HE set too —from both the instrument and FX product lines. I would not be surprised if that's the same for many of us in the user base.
Funny enough with all these fresh DZ HZ bountiful sounds and my own patch building skills growing exponentially, I have also started buying up *even more* soundsets direct from U-He and across the community — still blown away by Howard's essential Bazille Cookbook, today I snagged Joseph Hollo's HIVE trilogy bundle ~ FYI it's currently 50% off on JH's essential THREEFER set :hyper:

I hope these exploitive whiners inspire the rest of us to do the same to dig deep, pony up and support future development and our healthy thriving community
Mmmmmm... Honestly, I find this offensive.

++++
my loyalty is shown by the fact that, in the meantime, I've bought **ALL** U-He effects and synths

Same for me got every synths and effect U-he made except for Uhbik and Filterscape (will buy them immediately once the Apple Silicon native support beta or even roadmap is out)

Dark Zebra is the soundset
ZebraHZ is the included vst.
ZebraHZ is in fact, an upgrade to zebra2. Everything Zebra2 does HZ can do, plus more. The only downside is because you have so many more possibilities, your computer might get unhappy with some patches.

Maybe I should make myself clearer - you can think about it as an "upgrade" if it helps you in any way, but U-he - does not. The argument was that ZebraHZ is some kind of Zebra 2.9, and should be treated by U-he as such, as an upgrade. Which - for them - it's not. Maybe a fork, but not an upgrade that replaces Zebra 2.

Post

Yes. The reason it came up is purely because Hans wanted it. I added some things that I was going to try anyway, but which would ultimately be done better in Zebra 3. He liked those things and we kept them in there for him.

I do not consider ZebraHZ an upgrade to Zebra2. It is what Hans wanted and not necessarily representative for the best possible workflow or the most consistent assembly of modules.

dlc. in gamers parlance.
