I will translate :

I am very envious that some people have this synth to try at the moment. I know old synth engines can sound superb, in fact better than some modern ones. Youtube made me curious, when I hear a good synth I will always buy it, so I don't feel left out as I like synths. I have lots of space left on my hard drive and any new synth excites me

Just joking you.... it is how I felt before I hit the buy button. Probably a tactic to get people to drop $$ and then let a demo loose when is goes up a bit.

I installed now but cannot get time for testing. I literally browsed 10 presets FWIW I get the impression that 2004 -2022 in terms of sound.. not so big differences for a VA. It did not immediately sound dated to me. I never used the original. I may revise this statement later cause I really did nothing with it. I get a feeling this synth might be a bit like Sylenth1, punchy direct, nicely crunchy and imperfect etc. but probably less flexible. Sylenth1, well that thing is amazing, really amazing, it can sound more hardware than hardware.. very solid, actually better than a Virus for some things and always surprising you.

You know how it goes some synth lend themselves to hep you create sounds you would not make on some other synth, that is interesting in itself. I cannot say much more for now. I look forwards to delving in, in due course. There will be no messing around I will be doing synthesis sessions specifically for making a new track when I do see what Vanguard2 is made of, it should be extremely useful for my plans. Given this track is going to be trying to be as authentic as I can to early 2000's.

I am even thinking of buying Waves L2 to round it all off. Trying to turn winter into fun. Knowing what people are going through at the moment, it feels like a luxury and treat, normal life all seems a bit tentative at the moment.

Naah... :) The interest was there, but, the saturation is enormous...

What this mean bro? Does it sound like shit?

Any opinions going from scratch? especially if one has sound design experience from the first. How big a difference. Do tell.

I'm excited about the release, thinking of pulling the trigger, just need to hear something unique from previous version.

No, I meant the saturation of plugins. I have more than enough.

And, with my last purchases, I also didn't think that I improve myself any longer with those purchases.

For Slayer I also did create the concept, the audio engine (except the reverb) and the factory patches.

If things run smoothly with Vanguard2 I'll give Mike a go for Slayer and PlastiCZ if he should ask me.

You can do the phase distortion of PlastiCZ also with Tone2 Nemesis or Icarus2. To initialize a phase distortion patch in Icarus2 pick the Templates->"Phase Distortion CZ" patch.
Brilliant! Thank you for this insight! I had all those old reFX synths and PlastiCZ had a deep place in my heart 🤣. Hoping we see a PlastiCZ2 in the near future.

Plasticz had an awesome formant thing going on. I'd love to see an updated version of it. Would rayblaster be the closest?

So I guess, refx has the code, and Markus couldn't release his own updated version of vanguard anymore? import samples and wavetables, dang, that be crazy :hyper:

Oh, I guess the blanked out modules are un activated. Sweet - This makes it one step easier to pull the trigger.

Are you willing to share?

I found this 'Classic' skin in the skin browser of latest version.

I think the sound is great and for a Nexus user it feels home immediately, because parts like the preset browser are the same.

But I have a problem. When I double click on a preset in the preset browser, sometimes the sound is different. For example it only activates one oszillator instead of three. When I double click on the same preset name ten times at least once the sound is wrong. Can somebody corfirm this? I'm on macOS (Intel).

I already tried to contact support, but that didn't help. They couldn't reproduce the problem.

I've noticed just clicking through patches that several sound like a single init saw despite having an official name in the list (that is being an official preset). various banks. Almost like it isn't really loading the real sound fully on these events.

A factory preset or some old V1 presets you imported? Not sure what could cause it, have you accidentally connected some automation to one of the first 3 parameters? If anybody can get me a screen recording of it happening, I'll dig into it further. Does it look like the UI has updated but not the sound engine, or is the UI not updating either?

I guess the UI shows the same as the sound engine. I click several times on the same preset and I can see that sometimes there are 3 oszillators and sometimes only one. When there is only one I get a strange sound.

No automation or anything. I open a new Vanguard in Cubase and click on the presets.

Yes, nice! That's it. So I'm not the only one. Which platform are you on? Cubase + Windows, right?
