Question about undo/redo function

Remapping works. Nothing but numerical field input works, unless I uncheck "always on top" regardless of mapping. Why would "always on top" affect the behavior here?
True that I don't have that function on every plugin, but I'll test a few like Izotope to be sure. I've just never run into this before.
I'll probably get back on this tomorrow as it New Years eve and I'm throwing a party.

Quick test. Omnisphere and Superior Drummer work fine. Izotope has an internal undo/redo manager that doesn't respond to key commands. Native instruments Massive X behaves like yours, in that it reverts to Cubase and undoes whatever is in the Cubase cue. So, it is possible to make it work. Not everyone does. I've never worried about it with most plugins, but with yours, its kind of a must. Too many functions to manage. Your plugin is huge in that regard. I'm better off with Ableton if I have to dodge too many obstacles with regards to components as integral as arranging, sequencing, note editing, etc. Your plugin is very cool though. I'll sit with it for a bit, but you may want to consider the value of it for your customer base as a whole. I know it's probably a pain and the last thing you want to deal with.
I'm not going to bother asking you for a refund due to the fact that NI is no better. That would makes no sense. I would argue that plugins like Superior Drummer and Omnispere are made to work properly due to the sheer depth of the environment. Yours definitely fits in that category.

Hi, you can use a "Project Menu" for "Undo - Redo" if your DAW has problems with handling keystrokes

The problem extends beyond the undo/redo functions. delete, copy, paste are also ignored unless remapped. For that to work, I have to uncheck "always on top". It makes things much clunkier which starts to negate the benefit of using such a plugin. I'm still going to sit with it and see if it makes sense for me. Fortunately, there are still other possible alternatives like Ableton itself and a possible release of a Reaper plugin called Playtime 2 which is a similar concept to Mulab. I'll eventually settle on something. Thanks for the reply.robert_p wrote: Sun Jan 01, 2023 7:14 pm Hi, you can use a "Project Menu" for "Undo - Redo" if your DAW has problems with handling keystrokes

I think it's relevant to also post a question about this keystroke stealing issue in a cubase forum.

Fair enough. Steinberg won't accept any accountability for this or care though. At least with you, I had a chance to talk to a dev. I'm just a guy trying to solve a workflow issue of my own and unwittingly stumbled into this problem. Both parties will point the finger at each other and I'll get nowhere. This isn't my first rodeo and I've wasted enough time on something that really isn't my fault. I don't have the capability of solving it on my own, soooo.. That's that...mutools wrote: Mon Jan 02, 2023 12:23 am I think it's relevant to also post a question about this keystroke stealing issue in a cubase forum.

I'm sorry i couldn't help. The fact that most keystrokes are received well and only some special keystrokes are not received proves that the issue is on cubase side, i think. Most probably they're using an aggressive keyboard hook and that's outside the plugin's control. Iirc reaper, for example, has an option to respect all keystrokes towards a plugin window, and that option is even available per plugin, iirc. Maybe cubase has such option too, that's why i suggest you post the question in a cubase forum.

I should definitely try your plugin in Reaper. I'm in that place where I want to make a major shift towards having clip launch functionality. I currently don't like the flow of Ableton that much. That's why I'm trying a solution like yours.
Steinberg used to have a user controllable function like what your saying about Reaper, but they removed it. I've been digging around that forum as well. Unless they acknowledge that it's a thing and commit to having their devs bring back the feature, it's a lost cause. I have little to no faith that they'll even acknowledge my presence, but I'll throw up a post.

I'm a solo artist at this point. I have a 12 mic drum kit that needs to be factored into the mix. I also do guitar, bass, vocals and of course electronic sound design. Not sure that your app would be as comprehensive as I would need it to be for all of that. I'm still in the learning curve, I know. Also, I don't think I would want to go backwards to no vst3 at this point.
For me, clip launch capability will allow me to better wield the power of the creative vibe, which is impossible to predict and very hard to remember. Ideas come and go like a passing wind. Clip launch is much more forgiving about capturing those ideas in enough body to remember them later. At the same time, capturing my full kit is much better suited with the traditional way of tracking. I need a hybrid environment for sure. I'll certainly keep learning Mulab for the time being. That's the mode I'm in right now. Pretty much looking at Ableton, Cubase, Reaper, Mulab, and maybe Playtime 2. Gonna narrow it down and make a choice......I have to commend project so far. Mulab is no slouch. I know its a lot for one dev to do. I hope you make to doing vst3.
