I happened to be looking at this a week or so ago. I found a useful tutorial. This gives a good overview of what the chord track does and how to use this to generate midi chords, arpeggios, baselines and melodies, all in under 2 minutes...

I am afraid no. It might work with saving a midi clip, importing....but thats all really to complicate and wont make really sense as the great strength of the chord track for me lays in the possibility to quickly change anything at any time in your composition process. Can't the generator tools use the chords that the Tracktion chord generator generates, as input?

This sounds greatUnionS8 wrote: Sun Jan 01, 2023 8:18 pm Actually, you can create a pattern preset: Select desired notes within the MIDI Clip and choose 'Create Preset'. Although you can save Bass or Chord presets only, you can use it whenever you want (arpeggios, melodies, ...). Then create an empty MIDI Clip, choose Pattern Generator, and load your preset. After that you can set it to follow your Chord Track. Just beware: during the save process, Waveform suggests the name of the new preset, but the name includes the ':' sign, which is not allowed in the name of the file (at least on Windows), thus the preset isn't created. Another fancy hidden bug![]()
Will definitely try this one out.

Yes, that was one of two short clips I found but sadly its only about when you use the integrated midi patterns with it, not how to change other midi clips.markyk65 wrote: Mon Jan 02, 2023 3:28 pm I happened to be looking at this a week or so ago. Conclusion for now: not possible or only with to much effort and with loosing the flexibility.
Tracktion support answered on a licensing question after a few days, then saying that the chord track problem was forwarded to someone else, nothings since then (at the same time I started the thread in here).....

I tried the preset thing with mixed results. Seemed to work with simple patterns but it's pretty limited and the interpretation was dodgy. I imagine transposing complicated midi to the full selection of modes and scales that Waveform offers wouldn't be that straightforward.

The only thing you can do with midi clips not created using the Chord function is to color them, let the Waveform determine if the notes are in the right key or not. Select the note inside the clip, select all the notes (cntrl + a) and switch colors to the last icon (consisting of 4 colors). Waveform will now show you which notes follow the global key and which do not, in colors according to your selected legend on the settings page.

Waveform simply tries to guess what to do with notes out of the current chord unfortunately. And sometimes it misses the pointdysjoint wrote: Tue Jan 03, 2023 1:46 am I tried the preset thing with mixed results.
