I don't think it is. Convolution is the weakest link in the ampsim chain. TONEX takes convolution out of the equation, quite literally. I would rather have circuit modeled amps and machine modeled cabs than machine modeled amps and IR convolution cabs.noiseboyuk wrote: Sun Feb 26, 2023 6:13 pm 1. The generalisation that Tonex sounds better than anything else is wildly overstated.

I'm 100% a TONEX convert. What you put in is what you get out in terms of realism. At least at the captured amp's settings.
Does that mean it "sounds better than everything else?" Human beings have way too many different tastes to make that claim. But for me, it's the next best thing to the real amps. And better than the real thing when it's late and I don't want to blast my amps.

For the Tone Models we create, how do we:
- Change the image? (I accidentally chose the wrong one)
- Change the Author? (I made 31 Tone Models before realizing I should probably be entering this in)
- Add our own logo image?

You can't change the image. Annoying.Uncle E wrote: Sun Mar 05, 2023 1:13 am For the Tone Models we create, how do we:

Also, am I correct that our Tone Models don't get uploaded until we right-click them and select Upload?
- Add our own logo image?
Change the author? It'll just show Local User until you upload to the cloud. When you upload, it uses the name from your tone.net profile.
You can create a profile image on tone.net. That's what will be shown when people search tone.net
Right click a capture's name in the browser and click Edit to change your metadata on that patch.
Tone models only get added to the cloud when you choose to upload.

Finally had a chance to use Tonex Tone Models in a mix context and I can say I've never had guitars fall into a mix so easily. Very pleased with the results and with not having to struggle to get the guitars sitting right in the mix.

I found a nice Marshall, and did my version of 'Red House' for 45 minutes, lol. I'm rusty, but I really had the feeling that I was playing through a perfectly captured Plexi.

Capturing is awesome. I’m up to 45 and they sound pretty much identical.

It's convinced me, and just for the price of the software there's access to really goode tonez that get me completely lost in playing. As it should be.
It's too bad the pedal doesn't have batteries.

I've found the latest update, 1.1.4 a step forward in accuracy. Well done IK. I've created new advanced captures of a Bogner/Hafler Triple Giant rack preamp through a VHT 2502 poweramp plus the poweramp by itself. These new tone models are literally indistinguishable from the real thing. Very good heavy tones. All three preamp channels captured. Clean, Brown and Sharp. Cool Alice in Chains type heavy tones.

I have been one of those who have bitched about IK over the years (the gloat of their installers, their marketing, and to be honest until very recently I don't think they sounded all that great), but Tonex hit it out of the park for me in terms of sound... I haven' really used much else since...
yes I wish I could save my filters in the search engine, and the vst3 on my mac doesn't resize to the smallest size for everytime I try to use it etc.. but they are improving the usability.
But the sound... A+ for me

I joined KVR to roast IK over the 64 bit Sampletank 2 issue. I've been vehemently anti-IK, but that started to change around the time they released Sunset Studio Reverb. I tried the demo, and was impressed. Then there was their anniversary sale where I grabbed almost everything there was to grab. And everything is Apple Silicon compatible.zvenx wrote: Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:56 pm I have been one of those who have bitched about IK over the years (the gloat of their installers, their marketing, and to be honest until very recently I don't think they sounded all that great), but Tonex hit it out of the park for me in terms of sound... If they go sub on us, I'll be forced to revisit my more benign view of them.
Tonex is a fantastic product. It is my go-to, now.
