Waves would make less money that way... and they don't seem to gaf about angering past customers.

While it's just speculation on my part, I would expect that once you get the subscription, you would get a new bundle based on that subscription and your original perpetual plugins will say at the version they were prior to today.

If you install the bundle then cancel your subscription, you would no longer have a valid license for the subscription bundle. You would need to uninstall them and install the older versions again if you wanted to use your perpetual licenses.

Wonder what the best venues are for complaints. There's sales support:

https://www.waves.com/contact-sales

And the forum on the Waves website---IDK if they even check that....

Everyone who feels like complaining should, but this is a company likely to be tone deaf to complaints coming in via the normal channels ...

TLDR: The pricks at the top of a company like this don't give a shit what you think as a customer, but if their email blew up they might not be able to avoid it.

However if someone was to find the email of an executive or executives, and said execs were to be inundated with complaints, that might get some attention for a brief minute. I'm sure they are insulated from their bad decisions otherwise.

The names of e.g. "Executive VP of Sales & Marketing" are easy to find via Google or Linkedin. Typical of most companies, the emails are probably standardized (e.g. as first.last@waves.com). It would not be difficult to ascertain an email address through guesswork or otherwise.

I guess Waves (the company) wants to be bought.
If you plan on purchasing your first Universal Audio hardware, you can get a free additional plugin. Just send a PM.

The only language they understand is if you don't give them any money.

I own Plugins from around 40-50 companies. So if every one of them goes subscription only and would take like $200 per year, I would need to pay $8000 per year. LOL, not gonna happen.

Fortunately, you can get a lot done with 10-20 plugins, even fewer if it’s something like Ozone that does many tasks well. I can’t remember the last time I used more than 20 distinct plug-ins in a single project.

If you upgrade via Waves Central, the V13 plugins show "Learn more" in the "Installed" column. But the plugins still work.

So the difference from before and now is that WUP was cut at $300 and you owned the plugins and got updates at least one year and now the price is $300 subscription yearly and you don't own any plugins so you are forced to subscribe infinitely if you want to open your songs in the future.

How that is "trying" to make plugins as affordable as possible is beyond me. Try harder.

I've spend my last penny on Waves.

I'm going to subscribe for a month just to see what this is all about:

Maybe Voxengo Premium Membership will become your new best friend.
Premium Membership allows you to obtain software product licenses for any (or all) Voxengo plugins of your choice, without any additional fee. Premium Membership has no expiration period and has no hidden, monthly or yearly recurring payments. Premium Membership costs a flat one-time fee and lasts indefinitely, it is a "bundle" software product license fee.

I am quite happy I went the Voxengo route to cover my bases two years ago. Voxengo gives me many tools, but not everything.

I am wondering which Waves plugins are irreplaceable for the people who have them. Any opinions?

So after buying almost all the Waves plugins I can no longer update them, even though they will be releasing updates. Totally slap in the face and not a light one either.
