Melda mrecorder does retrospective audio recording 32 bit and is free.. will have a look at rolling sampler to see if it is slicker but probably mrecorder does everything I need.

MRecorder is cool, but it is actually recording to disk if activated.

The other solutions mentioned simply save audio or midi in a buffer of a specified length, and you can grab it and record it to disk if and when you want and how much of it you want.

Midi Tape Recorder is best for capturing MPE note expression - Bitwig doesn’t yet support au plugins though

Looks great but AU3 only. No go for the Wig.

I just tested that. It's possible with Freestyle on the master track! EDIT: I should add that in my case I send out the MIDI CCs to an IAC Bus via the HW Instrument Device and route it back into Bitwig. Under Windows this should work with something like Bome MIDI Translator.

Unfortunately Freestyle does not save CCs in snapshots anymore, so I have to use a Reaktor ensemble that sends out CCs. Messy, but it works.

Your workaround is awesome! Adds so much to my Bitwig experience. Combined with Keyboard Maestro it's like working with extremely powerful hardware.

Good to know. I was afraid it might still need routing outside of bitwig.
There's also blue cat which has a midi plugins that might help. It's too bad bigwig doesn't have something like clyphx for ableton.

Rolling Sampler is really well done. Hoping to get the developer to add retrospective midi as well.

Just in case anyone wants to try it out: I've added MIDI recording to https://fannon.github.io/linnstrument-light-guide/ and it should support MPE. I've now also made sure you can just use any MIDI instrument input and forward it if necessary (e.g. to a virtual MIDI Loop device). Could someone verify if it works?

If yes, you could let this run in background and it will record your midi. After some time interval of not playing, it will create a new midi file with timestamped file name.

UHE CLAP plugins (ones I've tried) having some.issues though works fine until you save and exit

When you then reopen the project the UHE VSTs won't open they give a Bitwig error not able.to initialise or something

Not sure if all CLAP plugins or the UHE ones
just as an update - this seems to be fixed in Beta 3 now :)
