Same here. Bought because it´s so simple and fun! Perfect for capturing accidental cool sounds. Nonetheless it lacks a loop sample button imho...Dionysos wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 9:03 am Didn't see this mentioned before, but previewing samples in the browser on click is finally near-instant in v5. Sometimes it's the little things![]()
I want to preview loops as loops without having to hear it everytime directly in context with what I have loaded in my project...
I am moving more and more away from the Bitwig browser for sample preview over to the Loopcloud app...
Silly endless indexing, massively cluttering harddisk with millions of tiny index files, no loop functionality...
Loopcloud got "AI" search for similar harmonic or rhythmic samples, restricting search to key and tempo range, tons of patterns for oneshots...and works instantly without having to wait until this index nightmare is over...
Sample browsing in Bitwig is imho not their biggest strength...

I agree about the endless indexing- sometimes I install a new VST and have to wait 5 minutes before it shows up (always their instantly in Live). I have also had frequent crashes shutting down when its indexing, it isn't elegant.Trancit wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 10:53 am

I am also a recent convert to LoudCloud, its mind-blowingly good. I jumped on board as they integrated it with Elektron Digitakt, but like you I am now using it for everything.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I have the exact opposite effect. Install plug in the Wig, instantly appears.

It has sped up a lot. One of the benefits of the new browser?Dionysos wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 9:03 am Didn't see this mentioned before, but previewing samples in the browser on click is finally near-instant in v5. Sometimes it's the little things![]()

Do you get very long indexing on start up? (I'm on PC)pdxindy wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 12:30 pmSame for me...perpetual3 wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 11:26 am I have the exact opposite effect. Install plug in the Wig, instantly appears.

No, indexing is invisible to me... but I also don't start up Bitwig that often. I keep my studio computer on and Bitwig running so I can walk in and do stuff.SLiC wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 12:47 pmDo you get very long indexing on start up? Yeah, must be. Wonder if it was a technical limitation previously or just sth they decided to tweak as they were working on the browser anyway. In any case, it's much appreciated.pdxindy wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 12:33 pm It has sped up a lot. One of the benefits of the new browser?
I have no use for it, but send them a request, now's the time.

It's not mentioned (that I saw) in the changelog and yeah, I was also curious if it was a previous technical limitation. The new browser seems speedier all around for search and so on.Dionysos wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 12:51 pmYeah, must be. But as I wrote, I don´t want to preview loops just in context to my project... it shall loop without the sequencer running too... other sample browser have a loop button for that where you can choose whether it shall loop or not...pdxindy wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 1:10 pmIf your project is playing, then samples will loop... and conform to project BPM
But doesn´t matter... as I wrote Loopcloud is more convincing anyway...and this way I can preview through a track of my choice with fx if I wish... better in any regard.

Found some video from NAMM about Bitwig, where you have some additional comment to new features like browser.

Sure, prefer whatever you want.
I was putting the info there that samples can loop when the project is playing. That is not new to V5. What is new to V5 is that it can conform to project tempo now.
