Oups, terribly sorry...

Mixed with Hanz....

You can see that most elements are not hardware accelerated, because the bigger you resize the display, the slower it will get. For a gpu accelerated gui this would not matter at all. I think only some elements are hardware accelerated, but then a lot gui rendering happens on the cpu. My machine is very fast (m1pro).

Been exploring the new Grid module Transfer that uses an MSEG curve. Using it here as a waveshaper. Patch is 1 Wavetable Osc with a basic triangle waveform and unison 7 and no wavetable scanning. The Osc has some l/r detune and that plus unison affects Transfer and creates the stereo movement. A few held notes, no modulation.

I'm just curious, why?

Me: (2) 27-inch 1080p, @ 60 Hz, on a gutted os, smooth like butter.

Do you do graphics/video or something? Or? Gamer?
Once you have worked a bit on a i.e. 4k system with a decent Monitor you will hardly understand how you could work on "crappy" 1080 before...
I made the move very late and am working now on 4k on a samsung 43" TV and I would never ever look back to 1080...
Everything is really a pleasure to look at... the sharp and detailed graphics... everything looks way more polished and elegant...
It´s hard to believe just from the words without having any personal experience... but it´s like coming from the stone age directly into a distant future ... it´s just WOW... 8)
Ok, yes, I have 4k and 5k monitors at home, older and newer as it typically works out for me. I use them for entertainment personally. And yes I've tried them with DAWs and games of course, for my amusement. Wa-wa-wee-wa it'sa very nice. (best Borat vioce)

I use a 1440 for some games, and a 1080 for FPS games (if ever get back to either) and as I mentioned already cheap 1080s for Bitwig (on a custom "lite" os). Why? Smooth like butter. I'm prioritizing function over form for this specific application. Totally worth it imo.

I asked because I thought maybe Hanz Meyzer did video and or graphics on the same machine but now that I think about it 1080 monitors are so cheap you could have both. iMac? IDK. Just curious.

Edit: derp just noticed it says M1 Pro

Another audio example... again a triangle wavetable Osc in the Grid followed by the Transfer module with a custom curve. Also using Segments MSEG as the Amp Env in one shot mode.

Hanz Meyzer wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 7:30 am For me bitwig is already not really smooth with a bunch a tracks in the arranger, a few automation lanes open and using a single 5K screen (5120 x 2880). If I use it dual screen, and for example putting a single analyzer on the second screen, the gui performance drops even more, then the arranger scrolls with like 10fps or so. Is this something you do with you second monitor being a different resolution?

I usually run dual 2k (1440) monitors and can't recall any slow gui issues.

These are really interesting sounds you're making here. somehow almost physical modelling.

Good stuff. You always share really interesting examples! :tu:

Reminded me a bit of Dawson’s Kult type sounds, nice.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Thanks!

Here's my latest... exploring using Segments (MSEG) to create the groove via volume shaping. Sound is a single Wavetable Osc in the Grid with a stepped MSEG modulating wavetable index.

Even better than the 2 first lol.

I am having insane fun with the new MSEG, in particular on CLAP plugins (Hive).

These guys are always spot on on the features... The previous one, spectral was already awesome...

This is great also. I for one am grateful for you sharing the small examples of you pushing the new features to make some beautiful little pieces of music!

I like that one a lot as well.

For me the Transfer Module is one of the best bits of the new version, useful for so many things.

Hi.

It is quite not clear about the new scene follow action. Is it acting like Ableton next action on scene ?, where we can set time in beat before the next scene will be triggered ?

I can't test it because my upgrade plan ended one year ago. I am thinking about to renew it, but since no suitable Scene follow action exist, why spend $$ ? (I don't need the others improvement).

I was looking forward to having an MSEG modulator, but not super excited about it. But I am finding so many creative uses for them and am using the MSEG's more than I expected to.

And yeah, the MSEG's combined with the u-he CLAP synths is fantastic!

Stupid me, I don't use the launcher... Decade of muscle memory with arranger and not doing live (I know... shitty excuses).
