This may be a good solution for me, thanks for the hint! :))

Ive posted instructions before at KVR, so you should be able to find it with the forum's search, but let me know if you cant find it.

I found one of your posts:

"If you want a shell plugin turned into a set of individual plugins, then you need to use the .exe that's part of Shell2VST, also from xlutop."

I'll give it a try, thanks again!

I used shell2vst64.exe to create vst2 versions of my vst3 plugins, unfortunately, MuLab doesn't recognize them (I tried to load them to Unify with the same result).

:D I had it working nicely with Maschine and Komplete Kontrol before (I don't need vst3shell for this apps anymore as they added vst3 support recently). I don't know why MuLab refuses to cooperate :D

I think it's cos Jo's MuLab dev time is about prioritising the program. I mean, think about how much time he will need to devote to research, then implementing it, testing it, and finally supporting it. Even now there are plenty who post about VST2 issues and several I've seen are the actual vst's at fault, NOT MuLab!

So, you see the issue with adding more vst support? I do understand the idea, but in practice, I don't want to lose that support.

I just wish someone would make a universal, all knowing plugin bridge that works with anything! Lol

I have no issues with VST2 at all. (if plugin doesn't work it means is badly written and it goes to the trash straight away).

I wish that too! How about the open source - is there anything available that could be borrowed and implemented?

Open Source. Available on Mac Windows and Linux

Hosts all plugin formats. Include Clap on the latest linux build.

Carla is available for Windows. Runs 32 bit / 64 bit and all the formats even clap.

Never used it on Windows but is great on Ubuntu.

FalkTX made the best plugin in my opinion.

I tried that before, it's a nice app but not exactly what I was looking for. There were some issues on my Windows system and the latest version freezes after adding several plugins.

P.S. The issue is described here:

I've had no issues with VST2 either, but the point is that some do and this eats up Jo's time.

I'll look into those bridges! Thanks for the tip.

Is there any DAW currently available that doesn't support VST3 (apart of MuLab)? I found out that n-Track Studio costs $69, it's cross platform, supports Vst2,Vst3 and AU. I haven't tried it - it doesn't look as interesting as MuLab - but it can be good for less demanding users. And you can add MuLab Plugin to it :D

P.S. Apparently ProTools doesn't support vst3 (nor vst2) :D

maybe the direction Jo should be going is to abandon vst support, abandon MuLab App, and develop MuLab solely as a vst. But then there's still the conundrum of VST3 support. Not just about support it within MuLab, but having to make it available as VST3 too!

Post

I think simplest way for Jo to keep mulab as it is now and keep customers happy is just develop the daw and add clap. Hopefully clap isn't an issue like vst3. I own mixcraft Pro studio and waveform and most of the tracktion plugs and vst3 on both waveform and mixcraft has been a real bummer. Mixcraft had the 470 update a while back just for vst3 and it's still not working with certain plugins. I see energyxt is back now and they've added clap support too as well as reaper so maybe that's not as hard to code in as vst3?
