I guess it doesn't apply much for country music... But for modern music genres, that's just so so cool...pdxindy wrote: Tue Apr 25, 2023 2:28 pm And yeah, the MSEG's combined with the u-he CLAP synths is fantastic!
Bitwig 5 is up

It is quite not clear about the new scene follow action. Is it acting like Ableton next action on scene ?, where we can set time in beat before the next scene will be triggered ?
I can't test it because my upgrade plan ended one year ago. I am thinking about to renew it, but since no suitable Scene follow action exist, why spend $$ ? (I don't need the others improvement).
The problem is applying the same Next action settings for all clips need empty clips - but clips with void content not void on clip slots (as a Bitwig video have explained).
If you know the answer, why don't just explain how it act for scene ?

The video explained the new capability of the Clip Launcher in V5. There is nothing else new.Frac-Capitaine wrote: Tue Apr 25, 2023 3:19 pm
It explain for clips, not for scenes. It made more confusion...

Thanks!_leras wrote: Tue Apr 25, 2023 5:53 am This is great also. I for one am grateful for you sharing the small examples of you pushing the new features to make some beautiful little pieces of music!
There is a lot new to explore in V5! It's fun

Speaking of Hive... here is my first test of using the new MSEG to control various parameters in Hive per voice. The MSEG is creating the rhythm. This one is dry... no FX except a bit of compression.Jac459 wrote: Tue Apr 25, 2023 5:39 am I am having insane fun with the new MSEG, in particular on CLAP plugins (Hive).

You could just say that there is no scene next action like Ableton, just an improved clip next action (that still need empty clips to trigger a next scene). It would be quicker that writing a link of a video that confirm it...

I dunno... Perhaps MSEG plus clap is the best way to create synth banjos.
pdx turned a simple saw into a very physicalyl modelled sound string sound, so I think fiddles are possible too.

I want to hear the full track of this. What great sounds you are creating!pdxindy wrote: Tue Apr 25, 2023 4:30 pmSpeaking of Hive... here is my first test of using the new MSEG to control various parameters in Hive per voice. Interesting that this is dry, it sounds like it has a small room verb on it. I guess some of the modulation on the quiter notes makes it sound like reflections? Anyway it sounds great.

Actually to refine a bit my point, I mostly wanted to say that you don't NEED this features to do a great song, modern sounding and all. So I guess, tons of producers could find it "meh" or irrelevant for them. But yet, I think that for a large part of producers, these new features in coordinations with CLAP are game changing._leras wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 9:46 am I dunno... Like going from propeller planes to jet...
To me the concept that modulations and sound structure can be separated one in your DAW and the other in your instrument is crazy. How many people have created fancy modulations and would like to try them in totally different sounds... At least me for sure numerous time...
Before when chosing a virtual synth I was mostly looking at the modulation mechanisms and judging their simplicity and efficiency. With bitwig 5 and CLAP I don't care anymore. Any CLAP compatible synth, I know I will be able to modulate its sounds to the core thanks to Bitwig 5....

Thanks... that sound is using the Hive Comb Filter... and an MSEG is modulating the resonance so some "notes" have a longer decay. That gives it the sense of having some reverb on it._leras wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 9:50 am I want to hear the full track of this. What great sounds you are creating!

Here's an exploration in a different direction. This is a Bitwig Sampler in freeze mode and using an MSEG (Segments) to scan through the samples in textures mode. The MSEG's are so versatile!

Bitwig sampler in freeze mode and scanning through a sample through a random modulation is already very fun and awesome go give some life to a pad.pdxindy wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 8:44 pmThanks... that sound is using the Hive Comb Filter... and an MSEG is modulating the resonance so some "notes" have a longer decay. I even use that in a chord in order to get some small weird sounds of plucks but all in keys !
Didn't start to play with the new modulators through...

It's more flexible to do with MSEG's cause they can go super slow but with some infrequent quick changes... Turns out I'm gonna be using the MSEG's more than I expected.Jac459 wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 11:24 pm

That's weird... hasn't happened here. How do you create new projects?simmo75 wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 4:55 pm For some reason since updating to 5, it’s creating 2 new projects when creating a new project. So weird.
Does anyone else have this?

On load, it opens to the project browser, I select new, I work on it, save it, close it. When closed, I get a new project asking me to save and close. So weird
