I wouldn't assume Reaktor is dead based on anything said in this thread. Just that it's not the core of NI's synth development, as they switch their focus to Kontakt.

Right now, Reaktor is the only DAW-agnostic tool like this and they just put a huge effort into finally updating the code. Hopefully they did that "the right way" and that's a sign that Reaktor has a long future at NI. Even if they're not prototyping new synth plugins based on it.

Max for Live but you need Ableton's Live to run devices. Alternatively you can run MAX or Puredata in as standalone application
Nah Max4Live is off the table - never really liked it and it was super unstable even with Ableton 10. What about Alpha Forever? Any good?

Why is everyone crying wolf? I just said it's not being used for prototyping things internally anymore. Doesn't mean it's dead or that it's going to be dead any time soon. It's just that the money is in Kontakt and private equity owned (or really any normal) companies will always follow the money... Sheesh, KvR. :D

Not saying dead but looking for alternatives. You know - just in case (*caugh *caugh absynth *caugh) :D

Last time I checked Absynth still works just fine. Hell, even Kore 2 still works just fine. Sucks if you're on Mac, tho. :)

This thread is great not only because I’ve stumbled across a few fantastic ensembles I didn’t know about, but also because it managed to stay positive for a surprisingly long time. Please, let’s not turn it into another „Wahhh Reaktor is dead, NI is stupid“ thread, we’ve had enough of those in the last few years. Reaktor is awesome!

Nobody mentioned the amazing Toybox blocks yet, as far as I can tell. If you’re into modular stuff, go get the Nano pack, at least. You’ll get hundreds of great little blocks, almost every parameter has its own modulation input, the sound quality is excellent, and it’s dirt cheap.

Wow you guys seem depressed hahahha one small mention of NI not prototyping in Reaktor anymore and you were ready to abandon all hope and start looking for alternatives hahahaha what the hell

Indeed the Toybox stuff is excellent! I bought the vintage sampler module and the Nano bundle and both are absolutely excellent.

Been working on converting some of their non-polyphonic modules to be polyphonic and building my own ensembles with them outside of the blocks system (I just prefer working outside of blocks, I find it much more enjoyable).

Actually wish Toybox would create a few "stand alone" ensemble synthesizers instead of just things in the blocks system.

i think those granular samplers benefit greatly from some sort of resonators or comb filters, for my drones i use Moodal the most but this Grano sampler has build in resonator
for crazy soundscapes grains and comb filters can be a team made in heaven

Nice didn't know about those - the West Coast one looks interesting too

Never heard of these! Will check it out.

Cool synth! If you got any more paid ensemble recommendations, please post them here!

If I have the free Reaktor Player can I use all of these ensemble synths paid or not, just can't create my own?

No. You need the full Reaktor to use stuff from the library, just like you need the full Kontakt to use many Kontakt libraries. For it to work with the Player variants, it has to be something that is itself a licensed product.
