Padshop has a very similar spectral re-synthesis engine including the purity/formant parameters plus it adds LFOs and other modulators but it doesn't have Backbone's spectral filter and the slow down/speed up parameters.SeeingInMidi wrote: Wed Jun 29, 2022 11:06 pmIs there anything better than backbone that you have tried? I want to do a little shopping.Sampleconstruct wrote: Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:22 amThe quality of resynthesis and time-stetching in Backbone is really top notch.Stan Navi wrote: Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:20 amWow! Sounds awesome!Sampleconstruct wrote: Wed Jun 29, 2022 9:55 am Re-synthesizing/time-stretching a sizzling string sound played on my cittern in Backbone, tweaking the formants and the purity parameter on the fly.
Before this video, i thought of Backbone as a drum layering instrument. But this sounds great.
Then there is of course Alchemy 2 (Logic only) which offers additive/spectral resynthesis and audio-morphing between 4 sources.
The good old Metasynth (Mac only).
IRCAM Stretch in Falcon is a very good time-stretching engine which can separate the sound into 3 components (transient/tonal/noise).
IRCAM TS is also pretty good for stretching but it only slows things down up to 25% of the original speed.
