Arturia releases LEXICON LX-24

Loving this reverb so far. As a few have already mentioned, I'm finding it a bit more satisfying than the LX480. Sounds really nice on pads and "spacey" stuff. Love how you can easily dial in some cool changes just by modifying the distance control.

I’m really liking the results I’m getting from this reverb a lot, too.

People talk about Lexicon reverb wrapping itself around a source, sounding transparent, not really noticing it’s there until you bypass it.

Well, they must be talking about the 480L, because this is not that.

The 224 is in your face and unnatural. Supernatural, even. It doesn’t blend in to the sound or add a veneer of realistic room acoustics. It sounds like studio magic.

Don't worry, FX Collection 4 is around the corner (next month as per my judgement). If you have FX Collection 3 and any of the later released plugins (especially the Filter MS-20 freebie) you should get a pretty irresistible deal on the upgrade which will make you feel glad that you slept on the LX-24 intro.

i try not to collect too many plugins, but i demoed this one and the closest i got was with ProR actually.
which makes sense, because the biggest ProR quality imo is how well it blends in the mix, and this is something i noticed with LX24 as well.

I wouldn’t say it blends in. Not in a transparent way, at least. I suppose it “blends in” to the extent that it doesn’t sound like something separate that’s been overlaid on top. But it adds to the sound. It extends it and transforms it. But unlike a ‘transparent’ reverb, you definitely hear it.

I mean, i agree with what you said anyway. By blends i mean it just sits well in the mix, not that it's transparent or flat

The 480L/LX480. Exponential Audio PhoenixVerb.

These are reverbs that will make your audio sound like it was recorded in a different room. They’re very practical. But they’re not fun.

The 224/LX-24 is fun. It makes things sound big, epic, dramatic, surreal. Distinctly ‘80s. Like Robert Smith’s hair.

Yeah i agree, it doesnt blend in a transparent way - but it’s incredibly easy to make it present without it being annoying or taking too much space. It somehow doesn’t get in the way of its source unlike some reverbs.
(Not talking about ducking, which is omg why isn’t this standard on reverbs)

Don't want to stray away from the topic, but after reading the above comments on blending, I wonder how LX-24 (not owned) compares to Seventh Heaven Professional (owned). Both are modelled after different reverbs I believe, but I think SHP is excellent at blending instruments in a beautiful way and gives a nice space to them without being obvious. This comment is obviously intended for anyone that has tried both.

Well. Everyone hears different… to me, Seventh Heaven changes the character of the sound a lot unless using ducking. The Arturia doesn’t do that nearly as much even without ducking. I have 7HP and I deleted it.

How often Arturia do sales? Anyone bought and regret buying wanna sell?

EDIT: I have the UAD but still want this. Why? Don’t care about features like ducking, just the sound. Why does this sound better?

Interesting. I will listen more closely for 7HP. I will eventually get the Arturia LX-24 when I upgrade to FX Collection 4, so I will see then how much I like it. Thanks for your comment.

I would never normally consider even demoing anything from Arturia but in quest of finding the ultimate software alternative to my oto bim bam I came across with this and thought to give it a go as nothing else has hit the bar so far.

Why is this reverb so good? What happened to Arturia? Is it just me? Anyone else with hardware reverbs got impressed? It’s got that something that immediate gratification but also sits in the mix like hardware reverbs do. I guess they implemented the saturation stage into this one very well? And it’s like my BAM it’s not harsh you don’t get ear fatigue like from most software reverbs. What’s this about? Really the only negative element is the latency.
