It killed another one before I'd realised what was going on; it seemed there was enough battery power left to run the processor, so it mostly looked like it was working, but maybe not enough to read/write the card safely.

In the end a 9V PSU worked, or at least this time it played audio and didnt trash another SDCard.
Wow. I had never considered the potentiality of a low battery actually trashing the card. :scared: Will def pay more attention.
Yeah, neither had I. I think the MG was trying to write something? Anyway, Ive got a 4Gb sandisk that now thinks its 32Mb, and none of the standard windows tools will fix it. Gonna have to try summat linux I think.
The other 1Gb stick that it knackered, I physically damaged as well, later, on account of having to use pliers to remove/replace it in the MG. Slipped them and twisted, breaking the card's casing. Sigh.

I want to cut out things I'm not using and free up some cash for some stuff I may use plus right now way things are I think I'd also like to have some buffer funds in the bank. This goes completely against my hoarder instincts so for some reason fills me full of dread. I have no idea why. Logically I don't think my life is drastically improved by owning things I don't use.
The dread can come from a handful of reasons. One is that the items may be overvalued and cannot sell, two is that after selling, they may rise in price, thus becoming unobtainable, three is realizing after the sale that they may have a purpose in the near future after all, and four is regret after selling, by knowing the consequences of your decision.

One thing I keep in mind is what I value in equipment to begin with. Everything I possess needs to have a purpose, reason, and usage. If I am not using it daily, then the value of it is diminished, even if it has high resale value on the used market. I want to use them, not collect them and dust with it. Leave that job to museums. This also means I keep my few projects narrowly focused, achieveable, and sustainable. If I have too many projects, I will become overwhelmed and never complete anything.

Yes, I think my prime purchase motivator is “that looks great, I wonder how that would fit in to my setup” and then when I have given things what I feel is sufficient time to justify themselves now want to move them on rather than keep them because they may in the future fit in with things I don’t yet have which is kind of the reason I have hoarded until now. And laziness. And the fear that a buyer will rip me off. But, honestly 90% sheer laziness.

I bought quite a lot of stuff around the premise I would no longer sequence on a DAW, but actually I’ve moved back to doing it because it’s usually much quicker and way, way better for structuring things. I mainly now don’t want to jam. I’ve gotten back into trying to write songs.

And your attitude to what you want to do evolves like that. I’ve scratched that “let it all play randomly” itch, but the thought would always be there to want that if I hadn’t tried it.

exactly, the reason people are deemed experts when they spend 10000+ hours on something is most of that time was spent trying things that didn’t work out.

I’m trying to scratch the let it play random itch now!

I’m still curious about shift registers so the last itch might be some time with uO_c.

I do want to explore how other people use modular before getting back to using it “my way” which Im hoping will change a little bit with new tricks to accomplish what I want without growing the rack.

im waiting till after superbooth before i think about whether the rack grows or not

 That’s a very good point.

I am struggling with picking up DFAM & Subharmonicon since they’re on sale. The only reason I haven’t is because I don’t know what Make Noise is going to release.

Before deciding on the MN trio of desktops, I was looking at picking up the Moog trio. I’m not interested in Mother 32, but I still want DFAM & Subharmonicon.

I’d like a DFAM, but I’ll probably make do with a Behringer Edge if I live that long.

Recorded the first thing in 6 weeks, which kind of feels like forever. I had been planning on making a feel-good album that's soothing when I'm down, because I've been kind of on the edge of depression lately. Instead I recorded something about Dracula. So that's going well... :hihi:

What's important with any new project is that you can really sink your teeth into it, feel the pulse of the thing, you know?

The TD-3-MO I had ordered turned up so I just played around with that, the vanilla TD-3 and Rytm with some Microfreak for pads. Pretty nice. I thought I’d bought a dud at first but then noticed the oscillator type switch as well as square and sawtooth also has an ‘off’ position in the middle. Could be vaguely useful if you’re using the filters for external processing etc, but just seemed a stupid thing to set before sending it out to someone!

I have finally picked out a vst plugin to roll with to go along side with my internet radio station radio automation software Radioboss to enhance the 160kbps OGG stream

Stardust https://plugins4free.com/plugin/535/

I tested out like 25 to 30 different vst limiter compressor eq plugins a few sounded decent but the audio sounded a little dry dull it needed like 25% more punch. The rest of the plugin made the adui way worse they never enhanced the audio.
Stardust is the closest free audio enhancer plugin to Stereo Tool I have found it has about 75% to 80% audio quality to Stereo Tool.

Cool that they fit into Eurorack, but I think that Moog stuff is all overpriced. I'm definitely looking forward to Superbooth thought. I don't really need anything, except more time and less work, but that doesn't mean that I won't buy anything. Ok, I do "need" a new poly, but it can wait a year or two at the moment if I'm honest, I'm not exploring that route at the moment.
