I'm new with mulab plugin. What is best practice to uprgade mux files ? Compying /user from Mulab 8 app to mulab 9 app them making upgrade of mux in Mulab 9 app , and then only copying into /user of Mulab 9 plugins ?

Second question:
Can i uprgrade mux files for Mulab 8 32bit same way ?

Post

Normally anything saved with MuLab 8 / MUX Modular 8 Plugin should load fine in MuLab 9 App / Plugin.

MuLab App 9.1.10 for Windows 64 bit is available here: https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/lates ... 64-exe.zip

MuLab App 9.1.10 for MacOS 64 bit is available here: https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/lates ... 64-app.zip

MuLab Plugin 9.1.10 for Windows 64 bit is available here: https://www.mutools.com/mulab/plugin/la ... 64-dll.zip

MuLab Plugin 9.1.10 for MacOS 64 bit is available here: https://www.mutools.com/mulab/plugin/la ... 64-dll.zip

Put the new MuLab.exe/dll and MuLab.ID files in your existing MuLab 9 folder thus overwriting the previous MuLab.exe/dll and MuLab.ID files.

Latest changes:
  • MIDI Controller Filter: Option to swap the outputs.
  • New separate shortcut functions for Play and Stop, can be handy when using MIDI controllers.
  • While editing a front panel, you can now drop a color onto a parameter knob/slider to quickly set it's fore color.
  • MULAB -> GUI -> Colors: Was still showing a redundant "App" selector at the top left of the dialog. Resolved.
  • Fixed a couple of little issues with Plugin Slots on a Front Panel.
  • Added a tiny bit more space in certain aspects of the GUI.
  • Other small improvements.
The MacOS versions are still the Intel-based builds. Soon i'll work on the M1 builds. If that job would take too much time M9.1 may be released with these Intel-based MacOS versions and the M1 versions will come afterwards.

Here is a first MuLab 9.1 App for Mac M1: https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/lates ... m1-app.zip

This zip only contains the MuLab.app file and you need to put it into an existing MuLab 9 installation folder. If you don't yet have an M9 folder installed on your Mac then first download the full zip package from
https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/mulab ... -mac64.zip
and then update the original MuLab.app by this new MuLab.app for Mac M1.

As before with MuLab for Mac you have to right-click the MuLab.app file and choose Open and confirm you want to open it. Not yet sure if Apple still nags about the quarantine on the latest Macs.

I also noticed that MacOS asks something like "MuLab wants to access your desktop, ok?".
On startup MuLab indeed checks for the desktop folder path so it can be easily accessible from MuLab file browsers whenever you want to access your desktop.

Please let me know how this MuLab 9 for Mac M1 rocks your Mac.

Thank you Jo and MUCH LOVE!!!

Initial pokes with a stick show less RAM usage and less base CPU usage.

(Omnisphere is still broken. Again. Spectrasonics seems too break it with every other release...) But all my other plugins are running better than before. They are even more analog-sounding! ( )

More thank yous for your efforts. Merci and dank u well!
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

One thing I did find: demo projects on the ARM side are actually using a tad more CPU than the same demos running under Rosetta. I'm not sure if this is due to the optimization level or auto-vectorization, though. Anyways, at least you've made the jump and I'm made happy.

On the Mac M1 here the intel-based MuLab 9 on Rosetta uses a tad more cpu than the m1-based MuLab 9, but it's only a small difference and that's a bit unexpected indeed, i also would expect a bigger difference in favor of the native version. Good translation job of Rosetta i guess.

Here is the universal binary MuLab 9.1.10 App for Mac:
https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/lates ... uv-app.zip
So this one should run natively on both intel and arm Macs.

Here is the universal binary of MuLab 9.1.10 Plugin for Mac:
https://www.mutools.com/mulab/plugin/la ... uv-dll.zip

NB: File names here are using "...mac-uv..." (uv = universal) but that's temporary to separate all these new Mac versions. Upon release the universal one will simply be "...mac64..." again.

The latest version of Soundtoys plugs are causing a high cpu load within Mulab. Just thought I'd mention it. I'm using the plugin version. Happens in both Reaper and Cubase.

That's odd that you got the opposite from me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Considering Apple has been developing Rosetta for as long as they've been running iOS simulation on the Intel Macs, I'm not surprised at all that it does very well against native.

Either way, even if I lose a percent or two on Mulab's base CPU, the CPU I save on my plugins is huge, dropping from double- to single-digits.

What's changed since last beta M9.1.10:
  • By default, the top panel buttons now are flat buttons without contour, so to make the UI more easy on the eye. These panel buttons use the MULAB -> GUI -> Buttons -> Type 3 ("Panel") button settings which are still fully editable. If you want to keep your own GUI setup but also want flat panel buttons, make the Off State Contour and Back colors fully transparent.
  • The default XY pad colors now use the "Wave Back" and "Wave Fore" colors.
  • Other small improvements.

Hi, plugin slots created with ver.9.0.59 (front panel) look different when the MUX is opened with ver. 9.1.11. The only way to restore the old look is to remove them all, then place them again (five slots on the top). The colour settings (plugin editor properties) doesn't make any changes to the slots I created with ver. 9.0.59. (Highlighted in Yellow) I've got about 100 presets based on this MUX design and now they all look ugly.
