Bitwig 5 is up

Are you mixing stable releases and beta versions? Bitwig is rock solid on its stable releases

Anyway, DAW stuff is happening and i'm more excited than usual, but hey, this is still Beta and i don't recommend to ever tell a doctor to *hurry up!* (insert free imaginary consequences here) hahaha
Just say where it hurts so the doctor can fix it, as much specific info including reasons as you can please

After several weeks now, I think 5 is a crazy update with countless new possibilities.
I'm a longtime cubase, live and bitwig user and the last bitwig update is the biggest step I've seen in years.

...I even start to like the new browser.

Well, my day job is MD in a bank for Software Engineering. I am ashamed by how tough the job of these DAW developers is compare to mine. How more talented they are and how much less paid they are compared to the finance industry.
I have seen people creating stupid shitty workflows and selling their companies 100 millions. I doubt bitwig is valuated this way when it is incredibly more complex than the workflows I am talking about ...

Well if you are into electro with very organic, lively sounds and a lot of modulations, I don't see what DAW can beat Bitwig.... I left live because of the better UI and workflow (for me) of biwtig. I am staying for the crazy modulations features....

Well betas are expected to be buggy, if you don't want bugs wait for the release when most bugs should be ironed out

You could argue that Ableton have had a bit of a PUSH to get things out lately

Joking aside its been 2.5 years since Live 11 came out...take a look how much 'new' stuff Bitwig have pushed out in 2.5 years (Live is now 11.3 but the 3 point updates in Live are mainly improvements rather than new stuff other than 'Drift' synth and adding 'cloud' both to support PUSH I suspect)

Either way- It's not a zero sum game, I have Live and Bitwig and love that both are being developed or improved at a rapid pace, I am especially pleased how all in Ableton are with MPE now. Being impartial as a user of both I would say most of Lives big developments in the last few years have been catching up on some of Bitwigs features (MPE, probability stuff) but they are still miles behind on modulation accessibility, in clip editing functions and of course the browser....I suspect most of Lives short term innovation will now be driven by PUSH 3 and that may of course also help people who don't use PUSH...

Also the Bitwig team are very, very small compared to Ableton, when you take that in to account Bitwig do amazing work. I would say that Bitwig have had more genuine innovation and update their DAW more often than any other developer, even Ableton who are also very good!

Turns out my upgrade plan expired yesterday (24th) so I am not seeing it and am stuck on Beta 7 which was crashing! I hope I still get the final release when it comes out (like they said) but it seems I can no longer participate in the beta testing

Happy to report that Beta 8 now available in my account- Bitwig must have released this is an issue
for the people who will get the final release even if there plan expires and changed it. That is very cool, well played Bitwig

One example is the 512 midi channel input streams/ports limitation. Despite that, I have been using Bitwig a lot lately because I love the MPE implementation and the midi routing options you have with the MIDI Receive Devices. But now as I noticed the Live 11.3x update brings similar MPE editing without any limitation of how many of my midi controllers I can use together with 3:d party utility Divismate (32 streams with 16 midi channels each) I realized I needed to migrate my workflow over to Live for a while. The moment Bitwig ups that dreadful 512 input ports limitation I will continue my subscription plan.
