I think all the modern file systems accept UTF-8 now and you can just avoid the punctuation that has meaning in your file system (...)

Yes, we need pr0n names with googly eyes and eggplants now!

APFS allows it, NTFS allows UTF-16 (weirdos) and EXT4 allows any byte except null, although I think it displays as ASCII still (I'm not a Linux nerd).

The carets in the names are to say the drums have sub styles:

Find & Replace ^ with "sub styles" and it will be more #%@$! meaningful.

How would renaming then work in the database ? it will get an NA error as the program wouldn't find them. If it was changed by PG Music it would not be backward compatible.
The browser you are using seems to lets you type ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ all day long, no matter what browser you use.
I remember this issue with RapidComposer over in the Musicdevelopments Beta/Development KVR forum and it was fixed in the next release along with so many other features and ideas suggested being implemented in a short time.
No one their seemed to argue anything it was all fixed or implemented that's how it develop and went ahead.
You are looking through the eyes of protectionism, defending what you love rather than trying to make it better with constructive criticism, that's how things grow and develop into something better. If there is an issue you don't cover it up and defend it, you work out how it can be fixed.

^ are illegal in Windows that still use FAT -- developed in 1977 for MS-DOS, replaced by NTFS with Windows XP, but still used in some flash drives. Windows has a command-line tool to convert a FAT file system into NTFS: https://windowsloop.com/how-to-convert- ... data-loss/

I assume there must have been a good reason that i added the caret to the list of invalid characters for file names, but i can't retrieve that reason anymore.

If there is no solid reason for the caret to be regarded as an invalid file name character, then it's logical that it should be removed from MuLab's invalid file name character list.

You don't use FAT anymore. These ^ work on Mac also.

If I have a project that's 85bpm and I want to add a source stereo or stems drum track and edit the sections where I want a fill or ending etc.. and the source drum track is 75bpm you need to be able to tell MuLab the bpm of the files so it will adjust to the project tempo. It should show the stereo track as a stereo waveform (maybe there is an option for this that I missed ?).

Indeed it's mentioned there. Strange thing is that when i make a little FAT volume for testing this i can use the caret in file names on that FAT volume. So i guess that caret limitation really has become outdated and irrelevant.
I'll remove it from MuLab's invalid characters list. It's just a tiny little detail, but now that we spent time on the topic, we can better utilize the spent time, otherwise it's lost.

No that's not yet supported atm. It's on the wishlist, but not a top prio atm.

If you are using Win98 WinME you will have issues.

FadBad, i'm sorry, when i doublechecked this on 31 may i must have used 44.1 kHz, but i retested it now and indeed can confirm the issue when using a non 44.1 kHz samplerate. But the issue is in MUX 8 Plugin, not in MuLab 9 Plugin. So with MuLab 9 Plugin it has already been fixed.

Hmm initially Mulab plugin 9 was compared against MUX 8 (was the reference)
