Thank you for reporting it!
Also, there is no more errors logged on my system on plugin shutdown (there were some in 9.2.8.)
The errors were related to that same bug. (a false threading mismatch)

Jo, on Mac, did you drop Carbon graphics support between v7 and v8? One of my only occasionally-used plugins (Enzyme) doesn't show its GUI on v8 or v9 and I never noticed until now. Unfortunately, they closed up shop and there won't be an update.

On v9.2.9, Intel, I rescanned all my VSTs and had 3 freezes, including Tassman 64, which I completely forgot was actually still 32-bit in 64-bit disguise. AAS wrote their own 32bit->64 bit wrapper rather than updating the plugin. Maybe a timeout would work on unresponsive VSTs?

Also, the log only prints upon completion of each plugin scanned, so if one gets stuck, there's no easy way to tell which VST is causing the trouble. Can the log be made to display each line in real-time rather than buffering them?

I'll probably get to ARM and CLAP later today to see how they are behaving. Thanks!
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Yes, no more Carbon as it has been dropped by Apple, several years ago already.

How many VSTs are that?

The log file is effectively updated after each succesful scan, so if there is a freeze or crash during scanning yoiu could check the MuLab/User/Settings/VstPluginScanLog.txt and that should reveal the bad one.

No worries, I just wanted to be sure it wasn't something else. The VST shows in Reaper, but it struggles. I guess it's time to say goodbye...

150+

Thanks! I didn't know that was there.

FYI, Mulab 8.33 is the last version to support the earlier Mac graphics. Tassman opens in Mulab 9.2.9 Intel if you are still on Mojave.

Yeah, I just upgraded my old Mojave machine, thinking I wouldn't lose anything, but I forgot about Tassman. Not a real big deal as I have all the other AAS stuff. I have an even older machine with Snow Leopard/Mavericks/High Sierra all installed on it when I can install all my older plugins and still play with them. :)

Thanks for tip about v8. I'll see if I have an older installer lurking on my backup drive. V8 would be nicer to use just for the darker graphics than v7 for my poor eyes.

Thanks, but Jo only has the last version in each posted.

Oh, I did not check. There used to be more versions. Well, 8.33 is an important one for Mac.

Beautiful! One of those things that I'd consider mentioning from time to time but I'd then think "nah, it's no deal breaker". But this is a nice cherry on top of the whole package. Thank you---

Hi Jo, I tried CLAP. Two things:

1. As you can see in the screen shot, the Preset dropdown is missing. Don't CLAP plugins publish preset names like VST2 does? Or, is that an extension?

2. The second file is an error log from a crash on exit. Mac OS 11.7.8 Intel, Mulab 9.2.9. I had the plugin window still open. (FullBucket.de Fury800 CLAP). It doesn't seem to happen if the GUI for it is closed. I can forward this one on if it's not you, but them.

Same setup, but this time with the Diva preview version. GUI opens and closes fine, but if I try to play a note, kablooey!

It indeed is not supported yet. Will check it's already a solid part of CLAP and easy to add, otherwise it might be for a future update. I assume (almost) all plugin editors have their own presets slector, no?

I had the same crash on Windows with Fury800. I'm not sure who is responsible for that crash, host or plug, but the next update has extra protection to avoid that crash, basically by first automatically closing the plugin editors on a safe moment, and only then quitting.
