I think it is purely taste based and somehow irrational because ableton has certainly excellent features, but I really think the same and felt like using excel. I tried many times to switch to ableton (before finding the true love of my life, bitwig), but I never enjoyed even one minute using it.syntonica wrote: Wed Jul 12, 2023 4:23 pmBye, Felicia!![]()
And this planet is indeed a great placed to be. To bad we have to share it with other people...
On the DAW front, and I'm sure I'm unanimous in this, but It find Live cold and uninviting. It looks like an explosion in a box factory. Tiny grey boxes...
But again, it is not against the tool, more a question of preference....

I am the first being joking about bitwig being the best DAW in the universe, but do you really think that there is only one good way of doing music and only one "productive" workflow?liquidsound wrote: Wed Jul 12, 2023 3:44 pm I don’t see drill bits anywhere in the Bitwig toolboxbut if you do, enjoy picking the right one for the job at hand. No question about it. I manage with less tools in producing more (I’m guilty of many tools on my long music journey but I have a large closet full of them and I’m keeping the door locked).
Obviously this is not the case and even if there was only one perfect workflow for one kind of music (which I am sure it is not), there is so many kind of music...

Perfection? To me perfection equals Paralysis. I don't really care if people hate or dislike Ableton, it's not even part of my physical body for God sake
I don't need to justify my self for not liking it, and I'm actually happy to have been there and experience, with amusement, how such a sophisticated little DAW can be so obstructive to my music making, while for others is the Second Coming
I really tried and, while CLAP was quite interesting, I still get wonderful results with simple workflow and usual tools, and I mean, really wonderful end product (my opinion of course
So... no perfect but, damn ideal!

Well, generally when I am reading I am aiming at understanding about 7% of the content.... Make it 9.6% (average) if there are images (comics, cartoons, mangas) with it.liquidsound wrote: Thu Jul 13, 2023 12:45 amPerfection? To me perfection equals Paralysis. I don't really care if people hate or dislike Ableton, it's not even part of my physical body for God sake, so it's nothing personal about it. But Bitwig has been the worse DAW I ever used when it comes to do and really flow with production.

But frankly I am happy for you that you find your favourite DAW with Ableton. A lot of artists I like have also (kalkbrenner for example).
That being said, for my workflow and usage, bitwig is just perfect and nails everything I want.
The only issue for the people who have found their perfect DAW is that they have one excuse less to produce the next Top 5 Spotify.

You just need to put people into boxes don't you? The world is far too confusing without a clean black and white view. This is why your line of thinking aligns with authoritarians and other numb skulled types. You can't handle that someone might like a thing you don't and you need to argue, debate and attempt to box people in. It's pathetic really.
Impartial observers have noted this with you for years, but here you are, again attempting to frame the conversation so you can make your pathetic feeble point about the things you like being better because....
When you paint users of Windows VS Mac as having personalities roughly aligned with the typical nonsense that corporate media portrays them as, you deserve a solid dump on your idiotic logic. Nothing you can say takes away from the fact you literally assigned cartoon cut out personalities to users of products, like a good corporate shill.Nothing compared to the stupidity of thinking that just because you are reading something, it's meant to be about you.machinesworking wrote: Wed Jul 12, 2023 8:21 amjust recognize the inherent stupidity in generalizations, marketing, provincialism, branding, nationalism etc. etc.
They say something like 30% of the people out there have an authoritarian mindset. They're perfectly happy with a leader and they hate nuance, shades of grey etc. I think that sums you up pretty well. I would love to be wrong about this, but I really don't think so, this is how you've behaved since day one.
For the record I've never had a problem with Mac OS or Windows. I live in the Northwest USA, I have friends who work for both companies doing code, UX, QA etc. I chose Mac OS for the DAW I use, it's as simple as that.

Honestly, anyone being deliberately divisive or antagonistic to a sub-set of users are best to be ignored than fuelled. You're replying to someone who is most likely grinning at such response, otherwise.machinesworking wrote: Thu Jul 13, 2023 2:37 amWhen you paint users of Windows VS Mac as having personalities roughly aligned with the typical nonsense that corporate media portrays them as, you deserve a solid dump on your idiotic logic.

I had to check 'other', cause Plogue's Bidule isn't on the list. Also have Reason 12 and FL Studio, but Bidule is my go to and has been for more than a decade, methinks.
The lack of a proper sequencer gets remedied by having a hardware MIDI sequencer.
Ableton I have a Lite license I've never activated - doesn't click with me whatsoever.

was bad enough when he'd say, exactly that "you don't want to do it like that, you want to do it like this...." to me, if i was doing some gardening or attempting woodworking.
but he would tell workmen we had hired, or in the street doing road works, where ever...
i was surprised neither he nor i (he was well old) got a punch for his troubles.

After 23 years with Cubase, 10 years using Reason, 3 frustrating months using Live, 2 years using Acid Pro, 1ish year using FL Studio, I've spent the last few months becoming proficient in Bitwig 4, and now 5, and I will never look back. Not here to argue with anyone about anything because I dont care about that. Steinberg can place their lips upon my arse and blowwww for all I care. Love lost.
