I think some people are going from 12.1 Free to 12.5 Pro based on the email marketing campaign. So they're paying.pough wrote: Wed May 31, 2023 3:55 pm But the 12.5 update is free... and it's not like they aren't going to try to fix the bugs.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

People are switching because of the new splitting feature that doesn't work as we were imagined. They pay money for this, moving from version 11, 12 free ... In fact, due to the fact that developers are silent, users are more bewildered. I will assume that WF is tested very poorly, little, and only on the machines of Tracktion developers and others, who have many different development libraries installed. I think so, because most of the bugs that I wrote about on the forum disappeared from me when I installed WF Visual Studio on a computer. Yes, the developers fixed some bugs that third-party developers pointed out to them in version 12.5, but still testing is going very badly. Again, I encountered a WF crash in an update when all Solos were turned off at the same time - WF just crashes. Yes, this is a specific error, it does not always appear, but most often in a relatively large project. Other bugs described by me on the forum are also not fixed. Instead of working normally, you are looking for how to get around these bugs. And yes, I would prefer not the silence of the developers, but their assurances that they have a plan for implementing new functions, a plan for fixing already known and described bugs, and bringing old functions to perfection. I haven't checked the drum machine yet - is the sound loss bug fixed? (I don't need it anymore, because I bought more advanced drum machines) Is the midi bug fixed: playing only Attacks at notes? Etc. Doesn't this mean that WF is rapidly falling down in functionality, doesn't this mean that WF is in perpetual, not even beta, but in alpha testing? We waited a year for corrections and receivedpough wrote: Wed May 31, 2023 3:55 pm But the 12.5 update is free... and it's not like they aren't going to try to fix the bugs.
The fact is that many errors were not in version 11, now there are a lot of them. And when you switch from a version in which everything was more or less normal to a version with a lot of bugs, you wonder if this is necessary? A year has passed, the sores remained and new ones appeared, we must endure it, and then we will have to pay for what we endured, and for the new numbers in the version name - 13. And it’s not a fact that the story will get better and version 13 will not repeat the fate of version 12.
And once again, you ask yourself the question, why limit yourself in possibilities, why waste time looking for “crutches”, why take up disk space with a program whose functions do not work? And all this you think, those functions that only I need?
Or can we say that if the function that is declared does not work, or does not work correctly, then this is not a "flight down"? What is it then? Negative forward movement? Ok, so be it.
I am glad that in another thread they say that the developers have begun to stir

I can confirm this. Almost three months later, and in 12.5.5 it is still not working. And remember, as a German our default setting is of course the German language. If I hadn't found this thread and the workaround, I would have quit in frustration. How the hell does it happen, that menu items don't work anymore as soon as you have another language as English? It worked before (for example in 12.1.x I was using before), and the engine hasn't changed in that regard, so that's very strange. And no fix in months? Also strange.Michl71 wrote: Wed May 31, 2023 6:14 amI figured out it's a Problem with translation files. When I switch back to English it works. In my Case the German Language file causes this Problem.

It does seem that, more and more, that the company efforts are drifting away from the DAW to the other stuff that likely makes more money.
For as many annoyances as I have with Studio One, I’m sticking with it. I toyed with the idea of switching back (I keep my Waveform up to date), but…. Maybe it’s time to let it go and go all in on one DAW. For awhile I had 3.

I only have the artist version, and you didn't ask me, but for me it was as easy as drinking beer. Pretty much everything was where I expected it to be. Be it tools, functions or GUI. But I have a long history of working with many DAWs, so that might make it easier for me. Still, if you're not a complete beginner, it should be easy to switch.

Setup was a bit of a pain to figure out with hardware, going from Waveform. S1 also completely lacks some “basics” waveform has, like MIDI LFOs. Overall, not too hard to switch. Waveform feels more open to use, S1 more structured.dysjoint wrote: Sun Aug 06, 2023 3:24 pmWhat's the learning curve like on Studio one?vitocorleone123 wrote: Sun Aug 06, 2023 3:22 pm It does seem that, more and more, that the company efforts are drifting away from the DAW to the other stuff that likely makes more money.

I use Cubase Pro beside the Waveform. It lacks the easy straightforward approach of Waveform and the routing isn't ideal too, but IT LIVES. I still don't want to leave Waveform completely, but I'm pity of the time invested into something I don't see any future of.
