No need to be so afraid that eleven hour glitch on a reseller website will affect the value of your software which is great anyway.Urs wrote: Mon Sep 04, 2023 10:08 pmGreat! Note that NI are probably going to refund everyone. Thus licenses of Diva etc. that were bought during these hours might eventually be invalidated with us.
Also: We recommend not to buy second hand redeem codes of our stuff. Those might come from this fuckup and thus not work.
So according to Native Instruments, redeem codes bought during the glitch ARE COMPLETELY SAFE
Before you explode in outrage, please note that we haven't been officially informed yet, and that the information we had yesterday - at the time of my posting - wasn't exactly in favour of honouring the deal.
Furthermore, just to illustrate where we're coming from, second hand sales of redeem codes unfortunately are subject to scams way too often to be ignored. Hence we recommend to be cautious.
We do work on solutions that do not involve redeem codes in the future, but that takes time.
Stinging the second hand plugins market like that doesn’t look nice. Second hand market is no enemy of yours.
There are some pretty decent second hand sellers around selling redemption codes for any kind of software as well as their registered software who I strongly believe won’t agree with such statements, but who could for example no longer sell their u-he plugin licenses, because you speculated that they might get devalidated.

Wow. Gosh. Golly. You sure told him. Good for you... educating a developer like that. The second-hand market buyers and sellers are doubtless grateful to you for championing not listening to those who recommend one should exercise caution when purchasing second hand licenses, especially if it's a software developer who knows how, and does, track such things. Then too, given the tone and nature of your second response, it's clear you had no (vested) interest in listening, at all. Way to go!equisonus wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 6:03 amNo need to be so afraid that eleven hour glitch on a reseller website will affect the value of your software which is great anyway.Urs wrote: Mon Sep 04, 2023 10:08 pmGreat! You might wanna tell all of that to the dozens of people who were scammed just recently.
All we do is, we recommend to buy second hand licenses that need to be transferred. There surely are enough of those around here. We're happy to do transfers, and we're even putting considerable effort into making transfers faster, more secure and easier.
You're really misrepresenting our position here, but of course you can have your opinion and all that, even if it doesn't reflect our intention. We actually really do feel sorry for the people who have been scammed, and their numbers are actually depressingly high, and many of them come from those platforms you mention where those redeem codes are being sold without any insurance whatsoever.
But okay, yeah, we're the assholes for warning about assholes. Nice logic. Thank you.

I think there is a difference between people who sell redeem codes to software that was a freebie bundled with some hardware or a subscription, and redeem codes of "regular" software. If somebody wants to sell you a redeem code for something of higher value, you always need to wonder "why are they selling that". There very few situations where anybody would end up with a redeem code to a U-He synth that they would resell for a lower price without using it.

Sadly, I can confirm that u-he is a big target for fraudsters. It’s the reason we don’t issue u-he licenses automatically, I need to manually check each order for credit card fraud.

I think they’ve mentioned before that there’s a mutually beneficial trade off.BBFG# wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 3:52 pmNotice too that everytime there's been something questionable happening with u-He that it has something to do with how NI has handled it. Seems to me that NI is the one drawing the target on them.
I think the bigger issue here is trying to understand how these negative views form. Seriously, what’s the requirement for being viewed as corporate scum?
A small company with meme worthy product lifecycles (loved the one t-shirt) that favor quality/stability over profits (especially when said updates often come free) shouldn’t be a target, but I guess when some see an opportunity to take advantage, they just will.

I’m not a big fan of Francisco Partners, but NI honored all the software purchases during the glitch and that was the best possible decision that they could make.chk071 wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 4:12 pm Don't get the hostility they always get here. Dumb, dumb people.
We all know that all software purchases are final, at least according to like 99% of the plugin developers.

This is actually a really nice deal, imho. I have Tonex SE from a promo they did shortly after they rolled it out. Very soon after, they removed it and made it so you could only get it when you bought IK hardware.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 3:47 pm TONEX SE (200 Premium Tone Models and unlimited User Tone Model downloads, normally $/€149.99) only $/€59.99
I suspect it was cannibalizing the sales of the more expensive versions, since there are a huge number of excellent captures on ToneNet, so people like me didn't feel any need to spend all the extra money for IK captures.
I'm assuming that sales of Tonex have passed the spike, so now they can put this one back out to capture people who have given it a pass so far. As they do.
This is a great sim, especially since you can run it in Amplitube and use all of those effects.
Also worth remembering that, if you have the Jam Points, you can get the price down to $40.
EDIT: Oops. I didn't notice that y'all were busy fighting here now. Sorry for the interruption. Please carry on.

Who’s talking about u-he and who’s trying to suggest that he’s a scammer. There are giant developers (corps) bringing major versions every year in the beginning of October. Of course these versions are nothing but minor revisions of their previous major version that was also minor revision. If you don’t have any idea what I mean, that’s really not my problemelxsound wrote: Tue Sep 05, 2023 4:52 pm
Are you suggesting u-he is one of those developers? No need to answer that. Back to their self made T-shirt for 10+ plus year cycle for Z3 that is free for Z2/Dark Zebra owners.
Whatever axe you have to grind doesn’t make sense here. If your intent is drown a conversation out to aide your ego, knock yourself out, but the reality is that you have a developer only sharing info, and providing advice based on scams they’ve had to work to resolve in the past.
It’s not about blame or some other negative idea.
You keep getting asked about that aggression for good reason… it’s very misplaced.
Urs is a really good example of NOT being one of these developers that bring insignificant updates as new versions. DMG Audio, Xfer Records are other good examples that update their software for years without asking a cent, but what about some well known giants who are too concerned about their product refresh cycle every year? That was what I meant. And that is what I will call scam. Not the seller that got a product during the deepest price dip and sold it on knobc***d.
Btw psychology is obviously not one of your strongest sides. On top of that you’re behaving in biased and picky manner which is obvious from your strange reaction, so on your place I’d stick with audio plugins topic
