It enables you to create wayyyy more complex and more interesting and expressive sounds. I'm pretty tired of the limitations of the fixed-arhitecture synths. So, kudos for going this route!
Thank you

I think this puts my architecture somewhere between "semimodular" and "modular" :D
This sounds like it might be able to replace V.A.S.T.!

I may not need to go steak a new K2700.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Distortion of osc in SM2 has very musical effect ,will there be such in SM3 and could this be extended?
It's simple thing, but have really nice effect on sound...?

Hey guys, while I am finalizing the feature set for SM3, brainstorming on some new features for the Arp/Sequencer:

1. Multiple sequences: Right now you can only play 1 sequence. it repeats itself. I want to have a flexible architecture so that it can play multiple sequences as well .So there will be a new parameter to decide how the sequences are played: 1. Current -> Current selected sequence plays, 2. Sequential -> Sequences are played one by one 3. Random -> Sequences are played randomly. 4. Round Robin -> The next sequence is played.

2. Start/end notes for sequences: Just as in SFZ sample regions, why not filter sequences by the notes you press? This way, you can assign different sequences to different note ranges?

3. Root note for sequences: Right now, when you press a key, that key becomes the root note to play the sequence. Some users asked for a fixed note alternative. This way, whatever key you press, the sequence's root not is fixed at a certain note.

4. Strum parameter for chords: While playing chords, this parameter might be very handy. I saw it in a couple of other synths.

5. Easily inserting chords: When you right click on an arp step, the current note will be calculated, and then chords that feature that note will be listed. If the note is G for instance, you can have C major, C Minor, G Major, G Minor, etc. This could be made "scale aware" as well.

So, does the above make sense?

Sounds good to me, and the second one is a cool idea.

SynthMaster 3 upgrade for existing SynthMaster users will be $29. For everything bundle owners it's free.
This was posted at the beginning of this thread, more than 6 years ago. Is this still valid? Is it $29 for the SM1 to SM3 upgrade, or for the SM2 to SM3 upgrade?

Also, in the email newsletter I received today from KV331 Audio, it says "By purchasing an upgrade to SynthMaster Everything Bundle, you can start using SynthMaster 3 next month". That means that only those that bought the Everything Bundle will have access to the SM3 beta version?

This sounds awesome. One thing to maybe consider: take a look at the Korg Wavestate and Modwave and how they handle sequencer lanes; they are maybe the most innovative that I have seen there.

Yes, it IS still valid :) $29 upgrade will be for a limited time, (will probably be the first 60 days after the initial release. Then it will be $49 - SM3 price will be $179, and SM3 will include SM2)

Are you planning to add a sub osc in SM3 ?
I always miss in SM2 the sub from SMOne
I think I might add it to the VA Oscillator, that seems to be the right place?
Absolutly a good choice. On hardware it's usually link to osc 1.

Will you be able to filter the arp by scale? Maybe that would be a good idea, too? I have no idea if scales are implemented at all though.

By filtering, do you mean only allowing scale notes to be entered ?

Hm, no, like a post-live-filter, moving notes to nearest note-in-scale, which are out of scale.

This is maybe way too complicated, but an FX version of SM3 that doesn’t look like the synth. Just one that is dedicated to the FX. I find that the FX areas and controls are rather small in the SM2 and SM1 versions.

Hi guys,

Here's a quick update on the arp / seq:

sm3_arp.png

1. The arp now highlights black/white notes and scale notes. (the scale is per preset, see the picture, it's in C Natural Minor)

2. Added Trigger / Hold / Slide probability for steps. If you click on the trigger / hold / slide buttons they act like buttons. If you long press on the buttons and move mouse up/down, their values are changed "continuously" (between 0-1). The color of the button reflects the probability value.

3. Added Volume Random, Gate Random and Swing Random and Strum Random parameters, so that for each step we can have randomness in volume, gate length, swing amount and strum amont;
