You can't really randomize the few registers of the SID to good effect like you can with FM.
(this Noodling video explains why)

Most of the magic is in the automation. We would need to make random automation... and .. hum..

That's... a lot of chips for fifty bucks. Big ups for the release, gonna have some fun with this one.

Edit: I'm glad this looks easier to program than all those hours I spent trying to enter in MLX code from Compute!'s Gazette magazines.

To an _extent_ yes. That is 20x harder to do than in SFC and our FM chipsynth since again 50%+ of the SID sound is obtained by the automation. There are hundreds of 6510-native sound engines out there and we only analyse the final registers they spew out and _try_ to create chipsynth-native automation tables with it. Its not perfect science and its considered a bonus feature that is not part of the synth price (read don't ask for a refund if your favorite track doesn't grab). Spent 6 months on the grabbing alone and there are still plenty of tricks that eludes it. There are no tools that (automatically) do this to my knowledge due to the complexity involved.

Been playing around with it the last hour. Wow! Totally awesome. And having access to all those chip revisions is a dream come true for a c64 enthusiast. Gotta learn those step sequencers (that's where the real fun begins). And you built a c64 emu inside the vst. :-O That's dedication! What can i say: It sounds wonderful! Thank you David! I hope you get some well deserved rest now. :)
