Edit: Ok, got it, from the FAQ:
With a Studio One+ Hybrid (previously Studio One+ Annual) subscription, a non-updating perpetual license to Studio One Pro will be awarded at the end of each annual subscription period, providing access in perpetuity to the user’s current version, plus maintenance updates, of Studio One Pro.
The problem is that while you're given a "permanent" license to use S1, you lose access to all of the add-ons and content that can no longer be purchased. If you use the add-ons or content in a song, and you want to go back and edit that work, you have to get a subscription. All of your work is held hostage unless you completely use third-party plugins. One of the fun things about S1 was the CTC. Even the batch processing is now behind a paywall.

and your Studio One license is a 'non updating' license if that is of concern to you.

No, it‘s not. Presonus clearly stated that even if you quit you still get all minor updates for the latest version that becomes your "perpetual license". So, if you quit while S1 7.1 is released, you keep this 7.x major release "forever", and you still get all 7.1.x and all 7.x versions.

It is „non-upgrading“ ….

EDIT: Forget what I have written above. It seems that Presonus has changed the FAQ. According to the updated text, only point-point-releases (7.1.x) will be included. That has changed ... I am definitely sure that the FAQ from yesterday was saying something different.

Right. Thank you. (my emphasis above) - this is important to take on board.

Let me see if I've got it right - if you decide not to renew your subscription, the perpetual license you received as part of your S1+ Hybrid purchase won't be able to access any of those S1+ only tools/add-ons you used in projects along the way, should you need to revisit them.

What's not clear for me, is if during an active S1+ subscription period there is any chance of separately purchasing these things, so that they will work with your perpetual license, if you decide not to renew. At a guess, its no... obviously, the whole point here for Fender, is to get and keep that subscription train running...

Exactly - very good point - that means anyone who gets drawn in by the promise of the permanent license - which they now offer to make more people subscribe, is not going to use all those subscription things they added to + in order to make more people subscribe.

So if they remove them from the built-in shop in the application, as they should if they really mean that they're subscription-only, the majority of new users isn't going to be able to use them - so the additonal paid-for stuff they original developed in order to increase their income doesn't really have much of a purpose at all anymore.

I really don't think they thought all of this through properly.

The "free" (not free really) perpetual licence can be updated at any time you wish "(Pro-to-Pro)".

What options do I have to keep my Hybrid plan's free perpetual license up to date?

You can keep your free, non-updating perpetual license up to date by renewing your Studio One+ Hybrid plan, or you can purchase a standalone Pro perpetual license upgrade (Pro-to-Pro) at any time. Both purchase options are available for users on non-updating Pro licenses and provide perpetual license ownership of the latest version of Studio One Pro.

In the same way you always did before. Nothing has changed with regards to the perpetual Pro version. Its just that two extra tiers have been added on top.

This has been quoted at least twice already here in this thread.

Edit: actually I think they changed this somewhat too.

We have inherited a new term - "non-updating perpetual license". (Hybrid plan).

It is to be distinguished from "standalone Pro perpetual license upgrade". (the old licence).

The "non-updating perpetual license" can be "updated" or "upgraded", even though its "non updating". It just needs a push to get it going.

Could be. After all, they have to distinguish the "perpetual" licenses now...

And, no discount for those of us that updated our perpetual licenses recently. Essentially having to pay twice for the update if we wanted to go the subscription model.

Release of Studio One 6.0, 29th of September 2022, humm I've a feeling it's going to be much earlier this year for 7.0.
