The controller is one of the most awful kybds ever, and the synths can do nothing you cant do with any synth already available, and in the case of the MS20 and PolySix, free stuff.

Look, I was about to buy the Korg vsts after I tried the demos for some time. I like a lot the way they sound. If what you really want is emulations of the 3 synths, it's perfect for you cos they're great emulations.
HOWEVER, the package is quite expensive (more than 500 euros) and (believe me) there is a quite cheaper alternative and even better, in my opinion.
Korg Wavestation can perfectly be replaced with Wusikstation. And the MS-20 and Polysix with a couple of very good free synths called Synth 1 and Asynth. That would make 100 euros in total.
And in the case you were not convinced by the free alternative (which is great, but I understand we sometimes think free equals lower quality, which is an error but anyway) you can get Reaktor Sessions: there, apart from marvellous synths of any kind, you'll have a very good emulation of a MS-20 and other similar to polysix...
and that would make around 350 euros, much cheaper than the Korg Collection and quite better, in my opinion. that's what I did and I haven't regretted at all...

The short answer is that Pro-53 and Messiah do not compare to Arturias Prophet-5 at all because Arturias Prophet-5 plays in a way, WAY higher league than the other two.yessongs wrote:how does a pro 53 compare to messiah and arturias versions?
The long answer would require going into all the details and demonstrating it all, e.g. how thin and lifeless the Pro-53 sounds compared to the extreme punch that Arturias Prophet-5 is packing, and how neither Pro-53 nor Messiah actually have the tonal character of a Prophet-5, etcetera, etcetera. But that would require more time than i have right now.
So in short: Arturia = Clear Winner.

What I find amazing is "Korg Wavestation can perfectly be replaced with Wusikstation. And the MS-20 and Polysix with a couple of very good free synths called Synth 1 and Asynth. That would make 100 euros in total. " Excuse me?
That said, a synth like DIVA (which wasn't available back then) would cover MS-20, Polysix (or Juno-60 which was it's direct competitor), and will throw in some extras, like Minimoog, Jupiter-8, Jupiter-6 and Jupiter-8000 oscs + SEM filter.
For the Wavestation, you have no alternative, since nothing else will cover it's sounds (it would need the ROMs, which belong to Korg). No matter how close others come in terms of wavesequencing and vector synthesis engines (several did), they will never sound close, because the original sounds will not be the same.
