A lot of them use a wrapper. It is a very common practice, really.

if they do, they are a tad better than this crud.
give me an example of this level of shenanigans, none, if they're genuinely professional.
NEVER ever have i experienced this blank plugin GUI because a VST2 version wasn't in an absolute path with no options... f**king WHACK.

with a low res promise of a GUI...
we have added VST3 support, different GUI sizes, and compatibility with the latest PC and Mac operating systems and processors

There are VST3 versions and they work just fine here.

You could contact Rob about it as he really is a nice guy and one of us. But I doubt he's going to put the time in to remove the wrapper and again I'm fine with that.

By the way Rob does a live stream on YouTube every Thursday at 5pm his time. Always very informative and entertaining. :tu:

I will add that, normally, the wrappers contain a copy of the base plugin therein, not look for it in another folder. There's never an indication that wrappers are even being used. It's very annoying (and fragile) when you only wish to install one format, but have to install two.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Rob is live on YouTube now and is going over Albino 3 today. Lots of good info. You can of course always watch back to view the parts you missed.

As you can see there is a copy of the VST2 .dll in the VST3 install location:

Then I'm unsure of what all the hubbub is about. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ok so I'm working with Albino 3 today and found in my archives the Pro-Sounds collections by Frank Genus who went by the name TOTC (Trains of Though Collide) here at KVR.

He was a brilliant sound designer and one of my all time favourites. He also worked with Image-Line and Cakewalk among others. Sadly after he graduated from Law School he apparently left the synthesizer field and I haven't heard from him since.

In my archive there is a collection called Diversity Free which as the name implies was a cut down free version of a commercial soundset.

There are some awesome patches in that collection that I think really show Albino 3 is still relevant in 2024 so I'd love for everyone to be able to use them.

However the EULA included states "You may not redistribute any of the files and/or parts of this package in any way, shape, or form without the written consent of the Pro-Sounds".

Unfortunately Pro-Sounds has long since gone out of business over a decade ago. I see that Yemski is mentioned and I know he worked with Xenos as well. Does anyone know how to contact Frank?

Seems a shame that such great presets should just fade away into history. Here's a link to the original product release announcement:

Good to know. Because of the red theme, I assumed Predator was a successor to Albino.

Sometimes the most used things were the most used because everything else was crap. I'd say demo before you buy.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

I demoed it and it was unusable. Constantly freezing, "not responding". Really wanted to purchase it because it's basically perfect for the genres I make but if the demo is this bad, I don't really have high hopes for the non demo version.

That said, I only installed the VST3 version so maybe that's the issue. Still, having to make virtually any amount of effort above minimum to demo software is an immediate red flag to me.

Post

I love it! And it works perfectly on Vst 3 for me (I'm on a new mac).
