I really like Riffer and how easy it is to draw out patterns that I've written. But, as is often the case with MIDI patterns, the end result still sounds a bit robotic. I've manually adjusted velocities to make them slightly different, but the timing is still very quantized.

There doesn't seem to be any humanization parameters in the Riffer like there are in the Strummer and Tab functions. Does anyone have any suggestions to inject a subtle amount of humanization?

go to settings and click on riffer settings, check export humanization select button, then adjust swing bar, i think default its at 0, increasing will give off-time humanization, u can do that for the velocity bar too.

There is no swing bar in the Riffer settings

Removed in v3.7 it seems.

Yes, it was removed. Hopefully it is added back in the new update they're working on.

Sure.

Why was it ever removed in the first place?!

To ensure a Riff is sounded exactly the same as it is played as MIDI in DAW, the keyswitches must be generated very carefully, but this feature could misplace the keyswitches. To avoid this problem, we temporarily removed this feature.

Any idea on when the new riffer will be added to the existing plug-ins?

woah thats too bad, I'm now realizing after updating to 3.7, would have to downgrade then

i didn't notice it was missing (or it had one) so i've just been adding humanization with one or two MIDI FX on the MIDI track itself to tweak swing/note start/stop/levels etc.

what midi fx is that? i'm interested about the swing

I would be cautious about humanizing the sound using a MIDI FX or other function in a DAW after exporting, as there's a risk that the connection between the note and keyswitch for a specific string could be broken by randomization. This means the plugin might then select a different string or strings, resulting in an "incorrect voicing."
Therefore, in my experience, it is best if the humanization takes place within Ample Sound itself.

If you use a DAW that allows humanisation, wait till the next release of the guitars and I've been told that proper implementation of midi channel exporting will be included (it already works on the basses).
You should then be able to drag to DAW, switch playback to "midi guitar" mode and move the notes around without having to worry about keyswitches.
It used to work in v3.xx guitars but the first implementation of v4 broke it. I'm waiting patiently...
