then don't listen to hip-hop, turntablism, most electronic music the last 30 years, etc. you're way better than everyone else for not using samples bro! bruh how dare you use a drum break from splice that sounds cool thats offensivejamcat wrote: Wed Oct 09, 2024 7:40 pm Why would I, as a musician, want to use Splice?
I write and record my own music. That's the point of being a musician.
Out of everything new in Studio One 7, I find it the most offensive of all.
PreSonus Studio One 7 apparently imminent

I found a statement on a website saying "Any Studio One version 6 professional Edition license or license upgrade purchased on or after August 1st will get Studio One Pro 7 when it's released on October 9th." I bought the Studio One Pro 6 upgrade on July 31 and registered it on August 1! However, I'm not seeing a free upgrade in my account. Presumably I should be eligible. The normal registration process didn't work for me, though. I had to contact the support staff and they registered it. Maybe that's why it's not showing up. I'll contact them again.

Seems interesting, and I kinda like the new price/upgrade scheme.
How good is the Linux version these days
(I tried it before, but it was unusable.)
And how does the MIDI controllers integration compares with Bitwig or Ableton
Any official or strongly supported launchpad scripts for it, or something like that?

If you own an earlier version, we have some 6 upgrades left over. It won’t work if you own 6 already, unfortunately.Torchlight wrote: Wed Oct 09, 2024 9:03 pm The tiny price differential between upgrades and new purchases is shocking. Is anywhere selling the upgrades cheaper?

But I have been a musician for the last 30 years. And I have used Studio One since version 1.0, because it was built with musicians like me in mind. It was designed to be a working environment for musicians, not a toy for children playing DJ dress-up. They've obviously done a 180 on that starting with version 7. So now Studio One is just another Fruity Loops. Obviously that makes some people like you happy. But as a user for 15+ years, I am not happy.

I don't use loops either , nor midiclips , hell I don't even use presets and if I have the time I roll my own instruments in reaktor - supercollider-pure data etcc ...but I don't yell like an old fart because he's stuck in the 40's .
Yes , your a real musician playing the saxomo-trumpette , Amazing
Don quixote fighting the windmills comes to mind
edit: studio one still does the things it do since version 1.0 , and yes the update kinda sucks

There is an unavoidable fact: Musicians press record. DJs and fans press play.
There's nothing wrong with being the one pressing play. They are every musician's favourite people. But my concern as a musician when it comes to my tools is with creating the music, not merely selecting it from a menu.

by the way: if your head wasn't stuck so far up your arse you'd realize that Splice includes quite the foley library too - and if you can't see the artistic worth of having that right inside your DAW then these 30 years still weren't enough to bring you up to par lad.

Oh, foley sound effects, too, huh?
I can see why a library of horns and slide-whistles would be valuable to a clown like you.

I didn't say that at all. In fact my whole point is that I figure other musicians here probably agree with me.gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Oct 09, 2024 10:46 pmSomehow you think your the only one on this forum who is a musician who plays an instrument .jamcat wrote: Wed Oct 09, 2024 10:33 pm There is an unavoidable fact: Musicians press record.
