Complete different opinion here:
1.) Sampling is not a killer feature (except semi-automatic instrument sampling), because in DAWs you don't need it. Just record with the daw and pull the WAV-file in each sampler.

2.)GUI/workflow ist the worst in Halion because
a) It's easy to make failures and hard to find and fix them
b) Limited polyphonic Envelopes/LFOs per keyzone
c) Mixer and Effects on several layers is somehow messy for me
d) And OC the non-resizable GUI

3.) Not saying Halion is shitty. It has it's qualities, but I like working with Falcon waaaay more
Falcon is all over the place.

Different trees, everything is siloed, confusing hierarchy, busy modulation section, cramped windows, too many menus for sample editing etc. etc.

Halion has one tree where you can see everything.

You can float windows, nest windows, make windows persist and configure it exactly the way you want it and then save those configurations to be recalled at a click of a button.

Being able to sample is a fantastic feature because it's part of the workflow of the plugin itself.

Of course you can do it in a daw but you can also add sequencers, filters, reverbs and delays in a Daw too. Is it not better to just have it right there in the plugin.

Resampling Halion's own output and then using that sample to build another sound without ever leaving the plugin is a fantastic workflow.

The only downside to Halion's UI is that the UI elements are very small.

i have a hard time creating bad patches in Spire. Its awesome. Although I have a slight wishilist for it..
Vital is also extremely hard to create bad patches in. Near perfect UI. I almost always prefer Vital to Serum.
For the more basic stuff like basses Retrologue 2 is very good.

the worst? theres so many but i dont wanna throw shade

GForce almost ruined the previously elegantly simple GUI for SEM in their v1.6 update, with the addition of a pointless skeuomorphic frame around the user interface. Which was rather unnecessary, imho.

However, after a little "persuasion" by their customers, GForce finally relented and gave us a "Zoomed" (aka. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it") view back again, in their subsequent v1.61 update.

It might not matter to some people, while others might actually prefer that additional skeuomorphic aesthetic. However, I much prefer the focus just on the controls without the excess graphical borders. I find it rather less of a distraction that way.
That Skeu-view is terrible! Graphically it makes zero sense :scared:

Phase Plant is the most straightforward gui for me. It's very easy to work with, and therefore the most beautiful for me.
The one time I looked at Tranzistow (sp?) I didn't know what to do with it.
And I admit that most synths that have virtual patch cords quickly put me to sleep. Late at night, maybe that's beautiful.

Honestly, there is no synth which I look at and say "YEAH! THAT is how you make a synth GUI!"

...of the synths I currently have installed, I like this GUI the best, but... honestly, it's nothing to really write home about, soooo... meh?
