That's a dumb approach to be honest. A more logical way is to just hang on to your money until you have enough saved to get the DAW required.
I believe that is exactly what I said..
Yes i know; I'm in agreement with you. I just can't let anyone know that I actually agree with them. That would be detrimental to my ego.

I would go back to Cakewalk Sonar if it wasn’t rental only.

So I happily use Reaper. I also have Harrison Mixbus and access to the others but Reaper is appealing.

Not necessarily a DAW, but Kyma!

Ableton Live. No matter what.

I’d continue using Bitwig, but if money were no object I’d probably upgrade my Live lite license to Suite, adding to my collection of other DAWs I have but never really use. Who knows though maybe I would use it,would definitely make it easier and more fun to expand on my Ableton Note project- which can be opened in Bitwig but don’t translate all that well

Does money really make this decision for most people?

My choice of DAWs wasn't decided by financial factors, I use multiple.

I use Studio One as my main go-to, but I also love Bitwig and do a lot of my electronic/synthwave stuff in there, I use Reaper for troubleshooting sometimes as it loads fast af and the routing system is speedy as heck so I can test whatever I want to test in no time.

I use Logic from time to time but tbh I've gravitated away from using my Mac for music and more towards doing everything on my PC, as it doesn't have enough space for the sample libraries for too many instruments and it gets used too much for non-music related things ie work/browsing/watching movies and whatnot, it just made sense to not have it as my music making device.

I like LUNA enough but it doesn't feel complete enough and despite being pretty invested in the UAD ecosystem, it still feels like a money grab.

I'd probably do the same thing, if I were to restart.. don't have any issues using all of the above.
