When it comes to the plugins very little which I'll explain in a bit. When it comes to the hardware quite a bitcyberheater wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2024 8:43 am What’s the difference between the JV1080 and the XV5080?
The JV1080 hardware is the oldest. It contained a bunch of sample content, a bunch of presets, and a bunch of FX
After a few years the XV5080 came out. It had more sample content, more presets, and more effects. However Roland included all of the samples, presets, and effects from the 1080
A few years after that Roland came out with the original Fantom which had everything the XV5080 had when it came to samples, presets, and effects and a bit more
The XV5080 and JV1080 plugins are actually based on the original Fantom engine (which is also in the Integra7)
They have the exact same sound engine. The JV1080 and the XV5080 plugins share all of the same sample content as the expanded sample content from the Fantom is in both. The only differences are the JV1080 plugin looks like the 1080 hardware and the XV5080 looks like the 5080, and the 5080 plugin has a few more effects
For all intents and purposes there is no reason to have both installed at the same time. Just install the 5080 as it has everything the 1080 has and more, and sounds exactly the same, and most certainly don't buy both or use lifetime keys on both
