Pigments 6

Well, I'll certainly want to check this new edition out. What's held me back from buying Pigments so far has been my perception that it lacks a deep bass sound--the "thud", "thum", and "rummm" that, as the cliche goes, is "bone-shaking". Others here seem to be saying the same. Otherwise, it has wonderful features and is very intuitive to use. Fingers crossed, here! For me, it will be up against my interest in the new Zebra 3, whenever that arrives. Will that be a fair comparison? Don't know.

It’s sure that physical modeling isn’t yet covered by Pigments so it could be at some time they add itIvyBirds wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 10:32 pm The video was entitled something about "New Models" or "New Modals"
I got a notification on my phone, instantly clicked on it and got a message that the video was removed by the user
Not sure what that means

Maybe, but some better oscs and filters would be great too.martiu wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 4:34 pm they should rip off the granular sampler and put it out as its own instrument
I like a lot about pigments, but can't quite get the tones I want from it when trying to makes sounds. There are some good patches and demos though, so put this down somewhat to my own use of it.

This would be a great addition. I think these types of 'real' instrument type sounds are a strength of pigments.SebAV wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 8:55 pmIt’s sure that physical modeling isn’t yet covered by Pigments so it could be at some time they add itIvyBirds wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 10:32 pm The video was entitled something about "New Models" or "New Modals"

Not sure what that means
(And I feel pure synth type sounds are less of a strength)

Assuming the OP isn't playing a prank, then it's probably coming soon. Some YouTuber likely just pulled the trigger on a video too soon in error and Arturia is still coordinating a release. Doesn't appear to be NAMM related as otherwise, we'd have almost certainly seen a press release by now. So they'll probably just release it when it's ready, be that tomorrow, next week, or whatever.

Haven't they done a Pigments update around December/January each year for the last few years though? So even if one were making stuff up, based on the past, it may still be a thing.Vortifex wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 3:32 pm Perhaps Ivy be doing a little trolling. Nope not trolling at all, I genuinely saw the video flash up on my YouTube app notificationsVortifex wrote: Thu Jan 23, 2025 3:32 pm Perhaps Ivy be doing a little trolling. Someone else would have noticed an accidental upload by a YouTuber with a decent amount of subscribers.
I don't want to get the YouTuber in trouble with Arturia for breaking any NDAs and jeopardize their ability to make more content, or I would share the name
They actually don't have a very large and popular channel, it's big enough where Arturia lets them get plugins just before release to make videos, but they don't have a hundred thousand subs or anything
I saw the video title, a few days before NAMM and figured it was legit, I went to Arturia's website and the Webstore is offline and still is
So I still think Arturia has something up it's sleeve. We are still several hours away as of this writing for the booths to open at NAMM so we shall see.
It could also be Arturia doesn't want Pigments 6 to get lost in the noise of NAMM and it's coming in a few weeks
Or it's possible it's a pretty minor update and really isn't going to get a flashy launch
It's interesting however that Arturia is at NAMM and so far hasn't announced anything new officially

Yeah, I'm sure they're cooking up another version. Pretty cool of them to give them for free. I wonder how they choose which synths to give free updates for. Pigments and Minifreak got free version updates but not, say, Mini V or Prophet V. Maybe because it's feature updates and not major core DSP rewrites? Idk.
