I've had a Babyface set up for years with ADAT to an old FF800, but just switched to an Aggregate device to get a few more in/outs out of the FF, since I can then use the two ADATs to extend the studio when I want to. The Babyface still uses the big knob to control the main outs etc. etc.

As far as I know Windows is screwed here, and Linux is likely theoretically possible.
Yep, it's a bit sad really. I'm currently looking for a second interface with ADAT to expand with my Audiofuse 8pre. This would have been an absolute no-brainer for me if it wasn't missing that crucial aspect, being a heavy eurorack user.
As it is, it seems pretty nice and an interesting development for Bitwig, but I'm still leaning more towards buying an Expert Sleepers ES-10 for my use case here.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the ES-10, I have one here, and it is a great interface.

As for the 4/12, I like the concept and the BIG knob, but, I already have an aggregate device the size of Jupiter here... If it had eight inputs or so then it could have replaced my Steinberg UR44C interface, but right now no...

I have a eurorack system and have been thinking about getting a DC-coupled interface, so I'd definitely be interested in the Bitwig connect.

The only issue is that you don't get many CV in/outs. 2 in, 4 out isn't bad, but it isn't impressive. The ES-8 has 4i/8o and ADAT ports. The ES-9 has 8i/14o and ADAT.

Now, how many do I need? I'm not sure yet, which is the issue. If I get an Expert Sleepers module I can always expand. Right now I want to record CV into Bitwig, but I could see the opposite being true.
Linux version?

Linux can do multiple interfaces. It works well, but it's still a complication and so a larger, singular interface can make more sense. Depends.

In terms of form factor though, all my main stuff is in a telephone rack right beside my desk and that's perhaps the best setup I've had. Therefore, a desktop interface doesn't make much sense for me.
Yet, for mobile it might, or for a dedicated modular synth station it might. The latter I don't have and I'm not interested in. So how about mobile? Well, I've already got a Babyface, plus a few other things like a Zoom F3 ... Yeah, I can't really see needing or wanting the 4/12 right now.

For me it's the missing ADAT ports, too. Without those, I think, the interface is not for me. I mean, I could go the aggregate device route on Linux, but I'm afraid of timing and clocking issues. I'm much more comfortable running my RME as my only interface. So no ADAT, no buy for me.

Does anyone know if all the outputs are DC coupled?

The CV ones must be, otherwise there would be no point?

The Es-9 doesn't have ADAT. I wish it did..

I agree the 2 in 4 out doesnt look that much, but you could for example use some of the TRS 6.3 outputs to send audio to your gear. And you have the 3.5 midi in/out which you can use aswell. There are plenty of modules which convert Midi to CV and vice versa..

That new ssl 18 interface is pretty nice, but its $1200 and I would still be out of inputs. No CVs on that monstrous thing either.

Maybe they hire Alice Cooper to sing "I wanna be connected".

I think even ... what was the thing called they do as a side-project ... ah, yes "DAW".
It has a splash screen that says "(c) 2024+"
