Same. Entirely broken on MacOS right now. Not being able to login to ASC is one thing. Refusing to allow any Arturia apps to run - except in demo mode - (if offline auth wasn't used) is another.

Excellent update! Pigments has been one of the best long-term softsynth buys for me.
If I remember right, I bought into it at ver. 2. Every time an update comes out, it's like christmas again.
I'm one of those who say the analog section is a little weak, but I've got plenty of other stuff for that. Pigments excels at glassy, crystaline, modulated weird stuff for me. But some of the additions in this update are going to give it a whole new character.
Also - a good time to buy in right now for those who don't have it yet.
(after the webstore gets up and running).

Yep, it was done with Sculpture, here's a making of video:Danno wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:22 pm I thought I hit POST.. sorry if this lands 2x.
So with this modal + exciter synth model; Does anyone remember that marbley synth melody in Trifonic's Parks On Fire?
I think I read this was done using the Logic 'Structure' synth. I'm excited to try to replicate this in Pigments.

In the changelog they only mentioned two new filter additions. But there's now also the "analog" mode in the digital classic filters (some of them). That may be the most overlooked improvement, as now they also got better "bread and butter" filters. The filters in analog mode sound much better in some scenarios.
Question: The ability to add modulation to a modulation, directly on the target parameter - is that new? E.g. using Mod Wheel to dial in how much the LFO affects the pitch.

Great point, and something people looking for info should always keep in mind.planetearth wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:01 pm When you read enough posts on KVR (or any forum), you start to confuse opinions for facts.
Forum bias (for a number of reasons) is very noticeable here at KVR.
True that, too.planetearth wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:01 pm But the fact is, the sound you like from a synth is good enough. It doesn't matter who made the synth or what anyone on any forum says to the contrary.
What I was trying to say is, I haven't had the time to properly compare synths, and there are so many.
So I like to lean on opinions (esp. from people whose opinions I have learned to trust).
I like how Pigments sounds, I do use it, and I'd use it even more if there wasn't that nagging little voice of FOMO in the back of my head (so I hope Arturia will use this opportunity to improve its flagship soft synth's reputation).

As far as I understand this is new - and it's pretty coolFannon wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 5:57 am In the changelog they only mentioned two new filter additions. Since I still got v5 installed I can confirm dropping the modulations directly onto the (already modulating) targets is a new one. In v5 they are "greyed out".
Nice this is different now

And this does...?HOTF wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 2:23 amIt now has a Scan featureswilow11 wrote: Wed Jan 29, 2025 1:17 am Looking forward to playing with this. Filter drive by the looks of it which is great. Have to be honest that physical modelling for me is often a bit tedious- better results usually obtained via use of deeply sampled real instruments. But to create realistic-ish timbres, can be fun. Not really interested in the vocoder either. But I'm sure I'll fiddle with Pigments again for a few weeks before just getting back to Phase Plant, Serum, and Current.
Can anyone explain what's changed with the granular engine?
I've hardly touched the granular engine tbh..

I guess Phase Plant with its modal filter, with which you can achieve similar sounds, is the closest, as far as I know. But I'm not going that deep in most cases. Maybe Kaivo from Madrona Labs is even closer in terms of granular + physical modeling. Plasmonic otherwise?Touch The Universe wrote: Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:47 pm Very interesting new synth module. I can't wait to check it out. Looks like a very Nifty physical modeling unit paired with granular features that are unique as far as I'm aware![]()

Doesn't it? I thought so, I haven't spun it up for a while, so now you're making me insecure.
