If I remember correctly, the current version is compatible with Windows 7 or 8 but there was a version that wasn’t. It will eventually lose compatibility again, they only switched back temporarily.Medenka wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 11:26 am Can the Ostirus run on Windows 7? I can't get it to run. What vst sounds closest to the Virus TI?

Any gas or liquid will do in a pinch.Gam456 wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 9:28 pmNo vst, no soundzerocrossing wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 8:06 pmIf you want to get ultra pedantic, the firmware doesn't make any sound either. Flat earthers believe modern ADCs are lossless and achieve perfect sampling.

1.4.1, downloaded today from their site, was the only (most recent?) download option.
Edit: OK, I just downloaded 1.4.2 - and it works!
@Gam456, do you know what are the plans about Windows 7 compatibility? Will they keep or drop it? Thanks!

You need 1.4.2. Link is on the Discord.
For legal reasons, we’re not allowed to discuss. They give hints on the Discord, you’ll need to read between the lines. Windows 7 compatibility will eventually be dropped.

@ those other guys - please stop with this DAC nonsense! You are derailing the thread!

FWIW, 1.4.2 is already quite good and you could probably just stay with that version forever.

At the top end there probably isn't much between them, and even relatively value interfaces can have great results recording audio.

Indeed. Hilarious and wonderful that we're at the point that we get to split hairs over converters. 2000's Virus threads eyeing this thread with disdain.

I do hear the f**k all difference between the hw and the emu on any of my computers. I am starting suspect that all of you here are some super-duper-extraordinary producers with bat-like hearing and ubermensch limitless understanding about audio in general. I would love to hear your recordings.

I am also mad, when Martin Stürtzer lost his Virus TI and then told him or asked if he knew the DSP - emulation, which he did. So in the end it is all good and he could continue making his glorious sounds, using this superb tool offered to us. We should be happy that this thing exists.
