Yeah? Plugins? Really? These days?

Just embrace that whatever you spend in plugins is money you’ll never see again.

Yea I think so, I have good taste and you name it, chances are I got it. I like to have complete sets as well. Selling them would take some doing of course. But there are usually plenty of folks looking for good deals and think. I would lose money of course, but still make a lot, even
for stupidly cheap prices. For me it’s mostly about effects though, my sw instrument collection is modest.

This is only plugins too, I’m not talking about
all the HW that I have as well.

Nope. I use free ones and only keep what I like. Thinking about buying something to add to them and then Zyklop came out. I'm good for now.

Aside, microsoft set the win 11 technical requirements high enough to force people to buy new computers. Just a way to sell more win 11s.
FWIW it's fairly simple to upgrade to Windows 11 from 10 even if Microsoft says you can't with the automated tools

https://www.zdnet.com/article/how-to-up ... 1-in-2025/

If you have a computer that is more than 10 years old and was designed to run Windows 7 or 8 you probably won't be able to, but you should consider upgrading that anyway for audio use

Got so much software that if it was all hardware, I'd have to store it in a warehouse.
Guilty as charged - but the real problem for me is that it's the same with hardware here... :help:

I'm the opposite type of personality, I'm just not a pack rat. If anything I discard too enthusiastically. I cleared out my VST 2 folder only to open something from 2023 before what I use was VST 3 Silicon.

I more acquire sample libraries 'on spec'. I don't fetishize compressors or EQs or that and I have quite enough to think about with the few synthesizer plugins I have. Sitting around fondling yer tools ain't what's haps.

Whoah, nice!

I'm more of a real hoarder though, so I'm not really very picky at all (well, I kinda am, just in a bit of a weird way - think Hohner Electra instead of Wurly/Rhodes and Weltmeister Claviset instead of Hohner Claviset).

We had that discussion on the photog forum a couple years back. Since there are a number of retirees who participate, one of them grew ill and passed. It sparked a conversation of what happens to all our work when we're gone? For most I suspect the PC is picked up by waste management and ends up in a landfill.

Sometimes I wonder if we focus too heavily on the wrong things in life.

I resemble that remark....LOL!! There are a few things I miss about the old analog days. But editing tape with a razor blad is definitely not one of them! :D

Mostly what I'm using plus some I think I will likely use.

due to the fact, my disability benefits mean im only allowed 6k in savings, to be able to leave it behind, means buying things i can hopefully keep and use, and he can hopefully sell for a reasonable wad of cash when im gone
otherwise ill just smoke it

Yeah, I think a lot about this too - but then again: I recently got myself a new bass - an Epiphone Embassy  - and can't stop playing this sweet, lovely thing (it's sitting on my lap as I type) and it immediately inspired me to come up with a couple of nice new songs, and that's what I'm basically hoping for when I aquire new stuff... unfortunately it most often doesn't work out like this though.
