Oh god I hope not. Reaper has this functionality and it’s a mess. Let’s keep midi and audio separate for the sake of sanity.
Why would you hope that a feature was not implemented that you would never have to use if you don’t want to? It wouldn’t affect you. Bitwig has this and it’s one of its biggest advantages over Live. Bouncing to the same track but being able to go back to original midi in that track in different clips is really fantastic and makes for MUCH cleaner sets.
Because it takes dev effort away from features that we do need like the recently introduced bounce in place (thank god). Not dissing your request, just that I’ve seen the implementation on reaper and it’s a mess.

It’s one of those things that sound great on paper but is a nightmare to work with. If it’s just midi and audio on an instrument track I’d be fine. As long as we don’t inherit the reaper bloat.

I'm not familiar with the Reaper way so I didn't realize it could be done in a messy way. In Bitwig it's so straight forward. You can pick a new track as Audio/Midi/Hybrid from the get go. But you can also bounce a midi clip in place in clip and it becomes a hybrid track. In practice though you see no difference, it works exactly the same except one fo the clips is audio. It's perfectly seamless.

So yeah users will always disagree about what features to prioritize. I would happen to put hybrid tracks at the very top of the list for myself with Live. But it certainly isn't the case that it needs to be a confusing feature, as Bitwig shown. I actually think that at this point, especially with looping based software like Live/Bitwig, the distinction between an audio track and a midi track is pretty arbitrary and just forces us to use extra tracks where we might not want them. In general Live still forces you to use more tracks than necessary. Another reason Bitwig saves track counts and makes sets easier to manage is with midi being able to trigger effects directly on the same track as an instrument exists. So you can set zones that respond to midi for the instrument and separate zones where midi fro mthe same track triggers the fx stuff. That can be nice too.

It was about time to get that bounce functionnality...

Man, I never going to understand, why they announce a new version and then need weeks and months to release it :?

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

12.2? They announced it was in public Beta.
Set Theory claim:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate.
Red is Red and anything that is Red is an object, a class in itself or a real thing if you prefer"

It's not, that I do not know what a beta phase is.

Hm, I was triggered by the headline in this article:
https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/live-12 ... _llid=2864

You are right, that in the text they write that beta is opened. But the headline "Live 12.2 is Coming" induced in me the expectation, that a release is just around the corner. If they had written "Beta phase for Live 12.2 opened" this woudn't have been the case.

well to be fair, its the very first sentence of the text. ;)

To be fair, yes. Seems, that I am really fixed on headlines. You know - reduced attention span and so

The first beta for 12.2 was released on 12th March, a little over 1 month ago.

Damn, people these days have zero patience.

That's 6 weeks. Would be a proper regular intervall for releasing each next minor release  :D

I don't think the new features are minor, for bug fixes it would be enough but there way more than that

The proper regular interval would be: whenever the software is ready.

Beta phases for the releases that Ableton has done public betas for ranged from 3 to 7 months in the last few years. So, it could be anytime. It could also be that they want to have it ready for Superbooth next week.
