Which dial are you using for this? The swell is part of "Shape", and exactly what that dial means (swell, hold before decay, whether high/low frequencies are affected more) depends on the preset, but turning the dial down should always reduce/remove whatever it is.

The spectral tail does also take some time to build up (depending on block size), but the early-reflections should be tuned so that you can dial in a smooth handover for that.

That's not great - I'll raise this with the rest of the team and get that looked at for you!

Mixed feelings here. Need to test more. While the amount of features and possibilities are extensive, the core sound is  . Also no matter what I do, there is always feeling that some sort of predelay is on. Even though both - Pre-delay and shape is at zero.

Would be great to see the addition of pitch transposition and frequency shifting to Utopia.
If less is more, imagine how much more MORE will be.

Hi,
I worked on this and am responsible for the preset management code.
They are kept in a different place so we can write them out when the plugin is updated without fear of overwriting user generated presets. This was deemed a requirment for Utopia as it has a very deep set of controls for a reverb and I suspected there could be new presets with each release.

Being all nerdy and technical for a moment, the plugin itself has the system presets baked into the plugin file. This makes it super easy to work with all the install managers out there as they just have to install the one file for each plugin format and that file then takes care of unpacking the other stuff on first startup.

So, not so much hidden as just safely squirelled away. :)

I think that comment your replying to is talking about the extra parameters like Atmosphere and Focus that don't appear in the UI.

If I open a preset in a text editor there seems to be a whole bunch of extra parameters in the preset (like eq for the shimmer, for example) that don't appear in the plugin's UI. Also the aforementioned focus and atmosphere parameters.

yeah, exactly. Marc talks about atmosphere and focus, then a second later he instead moves a spectral knob. I guess it's like some kind of macro for the other two params.
Not a big deal, I was just a bit confused when watching it for the first time and then later wondered why these params are even mentioned.

is there mentioned anywhere how long the intro price is up?

Hi - Marc from Adptr Audio here. Thank you all for trying Utopia and posting feedback on your experience. :tu:
I want to add to the discussion about the preset parameters and how this relates to what you see on the UI and what goes on behind the scenes for the preset creation.
When I started playing with the algorithm, we defined two spectral qualities which we called Focus and Atmosphere.
If you want to hear what focus or atmosphere do in isolation, then try the two presets in the Utopia Essentials category
Essential Spectral Atmosphere
Essential Spectral Focus

While these proved nice to tweak and interact with each other in interesting ways, I was drawn towards making a single macro that moved between textures.
there were reasons -
1 - it was much more fun than tweaking two static parameters
2 - it was more useful when fine tuning for a variety of material
3 - It enables us to create a unique spectral colour for each preset to fulfil specific creative visions

So that's how we ended up with a single Spectral Colour Macro in the middle on the UI

@kraster noticed in the preset that there's an EQ parameter for the Shimmer.
well, there's a lot more than that,
Shimmer is built around 7 parameters, two with EQ maps and all params have scaling for the knob.
this enables us to produce many different Shimmer styles,
Along with Spectral and Shimmer, there's also macros for detune, Stereo, Shape.
but tinkering with all these parameters is overkill for most situations, not to mention a huge time vacuum to get lost in.

But, I know that some of you might find this fun and are experienced enough to get great results from it, so...
If you are serious about wanting to explore the preset creator, and might even be inclined to create a few presets for a future release, then feel free to get in touch
