Name each lane according to the drum sound it triggers.

View velocity independently for each lane (without having to select all the notes first; just select the lane)

Set different snap values (and default velocity values) for each lane.

Re-arrange lanes. eg: move your GM shaker so it sits next to your GM hi-hats.

Delete lanes you're not using.

Re-map incoming MIDI to different notes eg; to make a non-GM drum module conform to GM mapping, (or just to make it easier to play on a keyboard)

I might think of more later..
A string of good points, and now that it's morning here I'm thinking straight again

Yes - drum lanes are very useful in a sequencer, and I am disappointed that T2 has missed this... a feature request for T3 I'm sure

Beno - how many of the things he listed possible in the normal piano roll in T2?

The latest batch of features listed covers some of the real biggies, though, and I think Mackie have now revealed enough to make a full-on announcement at this weekend's winter NAMM show inevitable.

I now suspect there may be 2 or 3 more teasers to come this week (probably big ones, too) followed by a full feature list and demonstration at NAMM.

T2 available by end of the month?

But I could be wrong...

On the subject of the piano roll...

...Beno, I'm sure that you know this is the BIG feature that has been most requested and discussed over the last few months, and I wonder if you could indulge us just a little more by answering a few other questions/points:

1. Is MIDI editing still clip based, rather than track based? (I do hope so)

2. Is the piano roll in place on the arrange page as before?

3. Can a track be maximised when in MIDI editing, and locked so it doesn't inadvertantly revert to its shrunken state?

4. Are MIDI controller commands dealt with much as before?

I realise these are big points, and not necessarily the sort of thing you would be expected to detail on the Mackie teaser site. Forgive our anxiety, but this is the real biggie we've been waiting for, and the info given is... a bit too much of a tease

I just want to say this:
I would love support for drum loops slicing and dicing. Just so I can keep drum loops in tempo. I am sure this is not hard thing for Jules to code :D

also acid/rex support, if I am not too unpolite

say, that's a great idea, why didn't you mention it before? ;)
a quality filter plugin
if you mean a resonant one then try the new Kjaerhus Classic Filter freebie. Very nice.

1. yes
2. yes
3. don't quite understand. Tracks don't change height on their own. You change them. So if you don't double click or press z, it will stayed zoomed in. So...yes.
4. yes and no

Controller and note editing is much improved. Especially the way the tools work. The refinement in the arrow and pencil tool are great. There are lots of little things that really make it work a heck of a lot better. Like being able to edit multiple note lengths/velocities, at once. Hovering over velocities to see their value. Colour coded notes. Much improved keyboard control of the midi notes. Control of inserted notes independant of zoom. I tried T1 midi editing the other day and it really is no comparison. You'll feel right at home, the overall methodology hasn't changed its just many small tweeks to one huge improvement.

Had a look @ T2 page this morning.

Mackie and Jules, you owe me a new PJ (I think I peed a bit looking at the new midi editor) :x

And I fully expect the PJ cost taken off the upgrade price. :x

That's the only improvement I really, really wished would be there. :D

Actually I just thought of a big request that no one has asked about... Beno mate wanna hint about a built in File Explorer/Manager thingy  ala FL or something similar? I know there are ways around this so it's not a big deal but this was something myself and a lot of users were asking for a while ago. I can wait until next week for another tease, but if you tell me I won't be disappointed I'll sleep better between now and then
