There are some scaling issues on Windows 11, wherein the initial loading of the Uhbik plugins appear to correctly inherit the currently set Windows OS scaling.

However, they suddenly scale incorrectly once the user manually changes or sets the plugins internal scaling from within the plugins settings menu.

See the below screen captures (all taken in Windows 11 UHD/4K display resolution with OS always set to 300% scaling factor).

Fig. A - The uhbik plugins as they initially appear when first loaded within FL Studio 24 - At first, they appear to be scaling correctly along with the OS scaling setting (UHD/4K at 300% OS Scaling). And when the plugin's internal settings menu is opened, it confirms that the plugin is set internally at 100%.

Fig A:
Fig A - Initial 100% (Settings) - Scaled to OS 4K Win 11.jpg

Fig. B - However, when that same plugin is subsequently, manually set internally to the same scale value (i.e. 100%) the plugin suddenly shrinks to miniscule proportions - seemingly no longer obeying/linked to the OS scaling factor setting, as it initially appeared to do.

Fig B:
Fig B - Manually Set to 100% (Settings) - Incorrectly Scaled to OS 4K Win 11.jpg

Fig. C - When that same plugin is then manually set internally to its maximum setting of 200%, it appears smaller than the initial plugin did when set at only 100%.

Fig C:

Ideally, I would like the Uhbik plugins to remain that large size that they initially appear as in Fig. A. As that is much more comfortable scaling size on my 4K display.

Tested using:
• This current Uhbik beta
(all previous installations of Uhbik were manually deleted first, prior to install.)
• Windows 11 23H2 (22631.5262) OS Scale: 300%.
• FL Studio 24.2.2.4597 (Main GUI scaling set to use 'System' scale).
• All previous DAW plugin database entries for Uhbik were deleted and a fresh Verified Plugins scan was performed before testing.

I have a little suggestion.

For the compressor, the linear rate of the ratio knob probably isn't the best for engineers. There should be a whole lot more resolution in the 1:1 through 2:1 and the 2:1 through 4:1 range. It really should be 75% the control's range, because that's where the greatest sonic changes will occur. After 8:1 through 20:1 there's not going to be a ton of difference.

Try this: set the threshold while you have a 1:1 ratio. Then slowly change the ratio. You'll immediately hear the changes at the lower rates but once you get to 8:1 the changes are minimal but it takes up 50% of the range.
The proportions would be perfect if the markings werevertically mirrored on how they are now, but keeping the ascending order.

Could use a subhost, or wait till Jo supports shell plugins properly. :)

Cool :)

Thanks for this beta version. Installed properly in Win 10. I removed the old .dlls and Reaper replaced the originals with the new ones after asking about it.

Only problem I've had is the gain of the new delay is considerably lower than the old one, unless I max out the input gain and wet gain of the new delay. That seemed to bring it back up. I don't recall the old version having those controls.

Post

We found that the Delay was generally quite loud, so we used default settings that turn it down a bit. Would be great to get some more thoughts on this. And of course one can save a default preset with preferred settings.

Some of the parameters are indeed new in order to allow for some unusual but very musical modulations, like input gains for delay and reverb, which are like sends within the plug-in. This makes possible some really cool dynamic effects or even sequenced patterns of what's dry and what's wet.

Damn you, Windows system scaling.
This Windows feature already cost us so many nerves and countless hours.
We thought we had eliminated all possible issues by now.
Thanks for spotting this, we'll check it out.

hi, will there be a mono to surround option on the plugins? That is, mono input to surround output? That would be very helpful for at least the delay and reverb. As they are now, one needs to create a surround bus in order to use the plugins. Great would be to have an Aux with mono input and multi channel output. Reverbs likes Farbfilter R2, exponential Audio, etc.. can all do that. That would save resources and voices in at least pro tools.

Just a little bug I found, in Runciter, when using 4-pole CC mode and setting both Lowpass and Bandpass to 0, and Highpass to 100, you'll notice that sweeping the cutoff doesn't quite produce a highpass filter. It sounds like it's mixed in with the original despite Mix being at 100.

Beautiful plugins. They sound great!

Thanks for the tip. :tu:

I'm on Linux, Uhbik-2 plugins would only output audio in the left channel in Renoise.

They also won't load at all in Reaper. Reaper shows the following error message:

"The following effect plug-in could not be loaded:
VST3: Uhbik-G (u-he) (8ch)
(effect configuration is preserved)"

Does this have something to do with multichannel output support? Can I somehow enforce stereo operation? Fantastic update by the way, love the new look and capabilities.

yay :)

It's a clean highpass over here - could you share a screenshot maybe, or a preset?
Or do you perhaps mean you'd expect the cutoff to go higher, so that at max value you'd hear complete silence?

Ah, you used resonance probably, I see. Let's wait for Urs then, I don't know how this works :D

"Uhbik-G" is the name of the old plugin, the new updated one is named "Uhbik Grainshift".
Can you say more about how you're loading that one? Is it an old project that you're loading? Or empty project, then selecting the plugin?
