Waste of their talents--there are already several decent to good emulations, and it's not that interesting a synth!
What would be interesting is a Zebra-style semi modular with analog modelled oscillators and filters (e.g. Diva/Repro/etc oscillators and filters).
We're effectively already getting that in Zebra3. The modeling technology in Z3 is built on everything that came before with as much beef as Diva with far less CPU by sacrificing a fraction of authenticity. As Urs himself as said in another thread "It doesn't need to so sound exactly like this-or-that synth to sound GREAT".

I'm already hearing that with Zebralette 3 examples, especially the physical modeling. Percussion patches sound darn near sample-quality.

Analog modeled is an odd term. I don't see it meaning much when the software module is not attempting to emulate an analog module of the past.

The Zebra 3 Osc's could hardly be farther from analog... and yet they sound more varied and sonically capable to me than any analog osc (and I have more than a dozen different analog osc's in hardware).

Analog-modeling has long since been a placeholder name for quality -- the more "analog" something sounds, presumably the better it is. In 2025 however, soft-synths have long since been just as qualitatively rich as analog hardware, whether by closely mimicking the components and circuitry (e.g. Diva) or going in their own direction that classic analog could only dream of. Zebra3 fits the latter in spades.

It's still useful, but I do think that analog-modeling is a term that should start to be retired.

There are hardware synths with extreme nonlinearities that digital is still unable to emulate, so I think the term is still relevant.

ZebraHZ does CS80 sounds really well. I also remember reading an article where Hans Zimmer talks about Zebra being able to imitate a CS80 really well.

I'll second that!

@urs, thanks for this cool update !
Do you know when will the update for CVilization be available ?
Is there a means for owners to be updated for any firmware update (newsletter ?)

Hi! Awesome job on this, thanks!
Quick question about the Uhbik 2.0 startup warning: it mentions a demo version and occasional vinyl crackles. Did that warning carry over from version 1, by any chance?
The reason I'm wondering is I haven't noticed any vinyl crackles myself while it's running.

This is the usual demo restriction, and it still applies to Uhbik 2.0.
As long as it's not unlocked by entering a username and serial number, it will start to occasionally output a short bit of crackling noise once or twice a minute, starting a few minutes after loading the plugin.
Maybe it's so subtle you missed it? Which Uhbik did you try, and in which host and operating system?

Quick question to the u-he team, do you know when the next batch for Cvilization will be available? I bought one two days after the Superbooth on Schneidersladen, and it's still in "pre-order" status now... Thanks ;)

They will receive a new batch from us this week.

So how's Z3 guys? You feeding it well?

We're in the polishing phase before sound design can start. Sound design starts in little more than a week from now and it will take several months. During that time we'll fix bugs, refine the UI and add some more little features here and there...
