We finally got scalable GUIs as a free upgrade (for version 5 owners) after three years and you guys are still b*tching?

The truism ""You can't make everyone happy" lives on...

I'm slightly confused by what Soundtoys have said but I think this means I can't get the resizable GUIs even though I own the individual plugins....because I haven't bought the individual plugins. I got them as part of the bundle.

I'm not complaining about it if that's true but they could have been clearer if that is the case.

It certainly is confusing!
A bit fried in the higher freqs

Well, I've written to Soundtoys for clarification and I'll post up what they say. I'm still really confused whether the new GUI are a free update for me. I've "bought" the 5.3 bundle but am actually on version 5.4 because there was a bug in 5.3 which only got fixed in 5.4 so Soundtoys gave me access to the bug fix even thought I haven't actually bought 5.4.

It's all a bit complicated.

When purchasing version 5.5, is the Space Blender reverb included in this update?

Or do I have to purchase the Space Blender reverb separately?

It is, yes.

(Or at least, I would assume it is, as I upgraded from 5.4 to 5.5 and I know own Space Blender, which I didn't before)

Thank you very much for your reply.

I'm on version 5.3, so I assume the Space Blender reverb would also be included if I update to version 5.5?

I'm on a PC with Windows 11 Home, should the update be trouble-free?

Post

Im in Win 11 and the update was smooth.

Thank you for your reply.

That's perfect.

Recommend anyone with Soundtoys Rack to check their upgrade price. I only had Rack and a few free promo individuals gathered over the last couple of years and it only cost me $59 to upgrade everything to 5.5 full.

I got a reply from Sountoys who said there's a new installer in my account with the updated GUIs for the plugins I've got and an apology for the confusion. I've just checked and installed and it's there and I have now have reziable GUIs for all my plugins without any charge.

Full marks to Soundtoys, not a lot more I could ask for at this stage.

Yeah, in hindsight I could've gotten the update for free. I'm not sure why they're selling an update to a product people already own ("upgrade from that thing you've already got to that thing you've already got") so I basically blew $19 for no good reason. But in the grand scheme of things, it's not a lot of money and maybe it will encourage them to keep improving the UI's.

If they wanted some extra support, they should have just asked for it, like Xfer did with the serum 2 release. I'm sure most would have no problem paying. This confusion tho, seems like it's completely a fail...

Not telling you that it’s worth it to you, just that my understanding is the $19 is for new effects rack preset and space blender inside effects rack.

I doubt I will use that much, so I also look at the $19 as an encouragement/ thank you for the UI update.

All that comes in the update if you already own everything, seemingly...paid or no, just to reiterate

Post

Accidentally i had no time to make payment lol.
Well, actually in other case i do not think that i would be care a much. too.

In plugs history there have been a way more disappointing things, like with current Sonnox prices (to Envolution particularly), or McDSP EC-300 for free, and the same for Air plugs\bundles, which now can be catch literally for free, etc etc. Where speech going about hundries bucks. And that's from my experience only.
Not to speaking about UAD users feeling this year lol.
In short, that 19 bucks seems nothing at this background. And i would leave it as is. And would start to worry if it was 99.
