Think of it as Splice accessible, but not that it’s now built-in.

Not to understate the efforts to make it work seamless in Live, but its a Splice browser built into Live’s browser and as mentioned, you don’t have to see it, use it or would it have any change in impact on Live’s resources if you never use it and remove it from the browser. *And for that matter, any impact is negligible.

It’s just a workflow improvement, cutting a couple steps out of the picture.
Also each "Bounce to New Track" creates a new audio track, so Paste is very helpful if you want to bounce sections of a material to the same track

oh that's really cool! thank you for explaining.

Has it truly no impact on the Live's ressources when not used ?
I hope so, because now with Live 12.2 I'm pretty happy with how stable and snappy Live is on my machine.

Can anyone comment on these?

Explore new and improved Packs
Generators by Iftah is a new Pack of intuitive and immediately musical MIDI Tools for Live 12 Standard and Suite. Sting is an acid bass pattern generator, adapted from the most popular Max for Live device of all time, while Patterns creates new percussive rhythms at the click of a button.

Specially interested in "Patterns" or generators by Iftah. I have access to 12.3 beta, but I can't find improved packs?

edit: I installed the latest 12.3 beta on my Windows. I don't know what they did, and this is even beta, but the latest beta seems at least 50% snappier on my system. It's a vague description, but really, 12.3 beta starts in a second or two on my system. Everything seems snappier. None of the previous Live editions ever booted like that. I would imagine beta being more hog with all the logging tools etc., but this one seems really, really snappy.

Iftah, the pack's author, posted on IG yesterday that these will "soon" be in the beta. So, there is nothing yet.

Same for me on Mac
I usually used to wait for about 15 seconds after the program lunch along with Mac busy symbol "rainbow" on screen
Now just a couple seconds and no rainbow.

I presume you can turn off the Splice stuff?

Not interested in stems - it seems to assume that music is made up of bass, drums, vocals so isn’t suited to my kind of music

Great news on bounce groups and stems!! Abes deliver 👍🏻
I lost my heart in Cap de Creus

Amazing ! If this is confirmed for all OS and machines, it's actually the best news of this update.
Like I already said, I noticed that Live 12.2 was running a bit snappier and was noticeably more stable than the previous versions on my machine (MBP M1 pro). If they improved that on 12.3, it's a dream.

Have you tried the beta with projects containing a lot of tracks (>50) and vsts? Has it improved in regards to adding/moving/copy/paste/duplicate tracks and devices in big projects ?

Yes I did. Everything seems to be different under the hood. So launching is one second in 12.3 beta.

12.2 - 13 seconds. Just tested. Same coputer, same nvme disk etc.

12.2 and all the way to Live 11 - it was all the same 13-15 seconds. Now one second.

I don't know, guys, I am not the one being excited about these small, publicly undocumented updates, but it's hard for me not to notice improvements. It just feels snappier, and the fact that it now boots in a second should tell you they did something.

12.3 picked all my favorites, tags, folders with samples, etc., etc.

Also, I don't know am I'm imagining it now or did not focus on this before, but it seems that most of my VST3 plugins have parameter mappings already revealed automatically. Previously, I had to arm and move parameters in order for Live to "pick" them. Maybe I am imagining this.

Zero impact if not used.

Negligible impact if used, as in no different than interacting with another label in the browser.

Anyone with the beta can verify this and does not need to take my word for it.

The only “on” part is if you interact with it, but removing it from the browser means there is never an “on” part of it. It really is an optional added benefit for splice users, while not sacrificing anything for non-splice users.
